  1. Vicious storms arrived here now constant fork lightening seems weve imported these from france into dorset also on radar the south east is getting pasted according to radar ,i n the news no doubt
  2. No thunderstorms at all in poole today maybe tomorrow
  3. This storm is heading your way quite a dangerous storm here in poole dorset!!!!!
  4. Very nasty storm here in poole dorset at the moment pitch black with torrential rain and lightening
  5. here we go again another news tabloid "freak weather brings 70 degrees today but big freeze will cripple britain"coldest since 63" The met office has warned this could be the coldest winter in 10years with others going for 63 and the forecast is based on the north atlantic ..........so on and so forth!!!!!!!! Well yes of course it is possible but theres a higher probability of you selling your tabloids when your headlines read as above. That aside some great pictuers of a snowbound west london skiers and such like , fingers crossed we could see a cold winter despite the unseasonal warmth and according to one of the forecasters 1969 holds one of the records for october warmth and that was followed by a remarkable winter
  6. Thats something im inclined to agree with ian our traditional weather patterns are westsouthwesterlies a southerly is a departure from the norm therefore could lead to meridomal or blocking type patterns

  10. Glad your one of those that can remember the weather channel 95 wasnt it it lasted all of about six months then died on its proverbial, " why you ask "our crappy limey climate as the yanks would put it.just not enough material to work wiyth which is a shame but thats our climate.
  11. 7.00 am this morning hurricane rita continues too strengthen and is expected to reach a cat 4 and its path is not expected to deviate much so the forecast track for louisiana is not likely to change. Whats for sure is somewheres going to get another thrashing and its little consoolation to states already hit by katrina that they may ecspe the worst , whats worse is its just this minute been upgraded to a cat 3 so thats more bad news it cant fail to reach a cat 4 and could easily reach cat 5
  12. Come on rita love strengthen to a category 3 and finish off the gulf states oops went too far !!!!!
  13. Just heard the first rumbles here in north yorks sky is orangy black looks as though the south east and eastern england might just escape although storms could still be triggered by the high temps
  14. Ive just purchased one of nasas second hand satellites from my local charity shop and although i launched it succesfully it didnt gain enough altitude and crashed somewhere off the coast of the outer hebrides so although i cant add any data this should have created enough of a splash being one of their heavier models to send the gulf stream from whenst it came and thus lower the ssts around our mighty shores
  15. This is good news as are the sst s to our north and east which although they arent a great deal below normal at least they are not above and the north sea could prove to be important in the winter months with any easterlies or northerlies that occur. For example the summer previous to the 1962 winter was particularly cool and unsettled leading to well below normal sst s in the north sea i believe some parts of it never got above 7 degreeswhich is hard to believe but this was pivotal in producing one of our coldest winters on record with temps in the north sea hovering around zero towards february. Its the sea that moderates our climate hence cool and temperate but alter the ssts and you have a different climate any easterly or northerlies this winter wont be moderated as much as in previuos winters if these ssts hold which does allow for some lrf forecasts of perhaps a close to average winter but it could also influence synoptics if we do get more of an easterly or northerly influence this winter then this will tip the balance in favour of a slightly below or indeed below average winter !!!!!!!
  16.
