Portable BBQs should be banned for good immediately. People always make a big mess with them, even when there's no drought. Another heatwave is the last thing this country needs right now. We need rain. Badly.

Beautiful message! I'm back, i got a 7 day ban during the peak of the heatwave. So happy to see that summer is back to normal, with pleaseant nights and days, the occasional rain and no oppressive heat in sight. All good

Well, there's a limit about how hot temperature can be. Maybe we would reach 42 but that's it. What most likely is going is that we will start seeing much longer heatwaves, long periods of temperatures constantly over 30/35 degrees, similar to what's happening in France and Spain, which in many ways are more tiring and dangerous than a hotter but shorter snap. Just my 2 cents, like they say in the USA.

Unfortunately we have to get used to it. We live in a warming weather, like it or not. Today's records will be very short lived ... Really thinking of moving to Scotland at the first good opportunity. For another 20 years should be ok.

I barely slept as well. The bedroom was way too hot, even with the window opened. This is a torture. Can't wait for Wednesday to come.

Same here, tomorrow there's no way the rooms will be below 30. How could someone enjoy this is beyond me

Scary stuff. That's exactly what worries me. Most people in this country they don't know how to deal with heatwaves, because they have never experienced them. That's why I get annoyed when people say "in Italy/Spain/Greece/... they can cope fine". Sure they can but the people are used to this. They have been dealing with heatwaves for centuries and buildings are built having that in mind. Nothing like that here. Anyway I'm so happy and relieved she's doing better now!!!

Good call. I'm not going to send my 3yo son to nursery either. I asked them and all they are going to do is to keep all the kids together inside in one room! How is this supposed to help!?!? No way

I work from home as well, and i don't even have a fan. Why don't you go to a Costa/Starbucks/... and spend the hottest part of the day there. You can order a drink and work there. I'm sure they have Aircon. This is what I'm planning to do.

Politicians, reporters... they're so out of touch with reality, they don't live the life of regular folks. They have no clue what life is like for normal people
