I have photographs of deep lying snow in Somerset on March 18 2018. It is quite simply not true that snow cannot lie in mid March. Ideally, however, the weather stays cloudy obviously….

What about March 2013, which ran into an early Easter? From memory snow lingered for a few days, if not a couple of weeks.

So far this month has seen a glorious spell of weather around here.

Sunny days and frosty nights with almost calm conditions.

Great for walks and it has enabled me to give the lawn it's first light cut.

Got a feeling we may see more cloud towards the weekend but it's been great so far.

If we can't get snow then this is a decent second prize.

Still treads like there's frost in my lawn.

I'm not a gardener, however I had new turf laid last Spring, should I be cutting it in February?

  3. The last bitterly cold day of this spell. Have to say I'm happy about that, just read the gas meter and it's not pretty this week!

I like a cold and snowy spell as much as anyone, but as this one didn't deliver much in the way of snow it feels a bit of a waste!

BBC reporting double figures every day next week now (yesterday they had 3's and 4's) from mid-week onwards.
