Wonderful pictures from everyone!
Here in Stornoway there is some graupel accumylation in the corners and partially over the grass. Min +0.8°C, now +3.5°C.

Complete white dusting in less than two minutes with the latest graupel shower here in Stornoway.
Arrived all of a sudden with a strong downdraft. Fantastic!

Have to say that this morning so far has been a damp squib here.
Models are seeing those, in particular after midnight today for more areas over the country. Best chances would be in the morning, more largely between 00z and 12z tomorrow, but it's always hard to be sure.

Latest models are seeing quite the good conditions for snow tomorrow morning. -40°C @ 500hPa, a spread -7/-8°C @ 850hPa, and between 516 and 504 dam thickness. Not bad at all.

Well now... this is an interesting update to the yellow warning that metoffice has placed from 5pm today to 8pm tomorrow regarding the phenomena connected to the new cold front.

Wild here too in the Outer Hebrides, even if the cold front has not arrived yet. Some lightnings during the night in the region and across the minch from what I could read around.
Current temperature at +7.1°C, but it will start to go down soon.

Good conditions on Thursday for snow, the 516 dam 500-1000 hPa thickness is down south, and we have a -40°C @ 500hPa over half of Scotland. Crossed fingers!

Classic cold front transit behaviour around 3am last night with temperature peaking at just above +9°C (and then falling around 4 degrees) and pressure reaching its minimum and then starting to rise again.
Some graupel showers now in Stornoway.

There is still a bit of helicity remaining when the squall starts to break up in the early morning, so it may be worth it.
It will be another noisy night, that's for sure.

It seems that we could see some 60-70mph gusts in the more exposed W areas tonight with the cold front, from 3am onwards more or less.

Pressure is peaking over the UK & Ireland in these hours, as the fast moving anticyclonic ridge passes over us.
The warm front is about to reach the Hebrides and winds will shift from the SW until the arrival of the cold front during the night.

Not a lot of wind here with this storm, except some gusts associated with graupel showers.
The centre of the storm likely crossed close to my position, the barometer went just a bit down before jumping up again.

Well, the centre of Storm Franklin has definitely crossed over close to my location, pressure jumping up after its transit.
Next on the menu for Scotland... a classic Atlantic front during the night.

I had a single lightning followed by a thunder before dinner in Stornoway (not marked on the map unfortunately). Flash easily visible and good rumbling afterwards.
Here's it as seen by my infrasound sensor. Really evident above background noise!
