Hola todos, David in Almeria again reporting on just how incredibly dry it is already in Spain this year, esp S Spain. This is allowing some very low minina by night, and high maxima by day but also producing some extraordinarily low dewpoints and RHs.
I dont know how it manages it but PWS Checa near Teruel has again fallen to a very low temp overnight of -13.0C. Yesterday, the 5th it excelled itself however and was -19.2C and the day before on the 4th -16,9C. The -19.2C was an April record for it- though it only goes back 4 years- and I suspect Espana as a whole IF it was official which its not.

Other stations in the area were more like -3C to -5C still cold but not on a checaesque scale. I´d like to visit it to see quite why it falls quite so low regularly. Last year it was cold but nowhere near as cold as this April.
Elsewhere in the northern Picos d Europe Banuelos & Los Tremellos in the Valle de Santebanez well south of Santander fell to -5C, and Marrabio Terverga, SW of Oviedo fell to -7.0C.
In the far south Rasoplant, Zafarraya, SW of Alhama de Granada fell to -0.6C.
In the valleys of the southern Alpujarras today some remarkably dry air again esp at Lanjaron where the temps at 0620 local was 9C, dewpoint an extraordinary -28C & RH 5%.It seems reasonable since at another PWS about 15km away it was also 9C, -19C and RH 12% and many places in the area were almost as low. Closer to us at a PWS at El Ejido the temps currently 21C, DP -17C RH 7%. Dry a bone is the word and at 2am local another at El Ejido North was 22C, DP-19C RH 6%. Even here in the city centre here in Almeria on Calle Regojicos (pronounced recko-hee-cos) we have 18C, DP -13C and RH 12%.
