  1. Roll on a nice cold march and a nice wet, cool summer! Anyone who wants to sweat for three solid months can fly ro Spain and suffer it there.
  2. I'm sick to death of sunshine already and it's only February.
  3. I agree entirely. How anyone can enjoy hot weather - especially the muggy, humid heat we have i the UK - is beyond me. I hope we have a cool, damp summer this year.
  4. Interesting to note the Met Office have reduced the extent of the warning areas for strong winds, with the yellow warning for said wind now confined to Northern Ireland and Western Scotland for Friday, and extended east across most of Southern Scotland and Northern England for Saturday. Of course there's time for that warning area to be extended again but it goes to show how hard to forecast and volatile these set-ups can be.
  5. I hope you're right, especially about this summer. The thought of anything as warm as last year fills me with dread.
  6. Well this winter has been a complete waste of time here. Not a drop of snow on Thursday, and only an hour of wet sleety snow a couple of days previously. Now with the models predicting a shift to our usual Atlantic driven dross next week I can safely say winter is all but over for me. I give up. It had better be a cool damp summer this year!
  7. Almost a classic winter's day today where I am. Nice (but still not sep. deep) covering of snow slowly thawing in the winter sunshine. Didn't think I'd see snow during this current spell so I'm happy.
  8. I hate how quickly we lose the early dusks and short days. I wish spring could be delayed by another month, somehow.
  9. After that awful hot summer in 2018 and seemingly endless mild weather early in winter this colder weather is just what we need. Finally, the spiders that routinely build webs around the tops of our washing line poles have died off. About time!
  10. Darren Bett and a few others just died inside a little after reading that.
  11. Nice and cold out there today, frosty too all day in the shady spots. Classic winter weather. How anyone can prefer the mild, wet Atlantic dross that passes for our winter weather most of the time is beyond me.
  12. Darren Bett is swiftly becoming my least favourite TV forecaster. Him and his precious Atlantic Air.
  13. At least it's foggy where I am. Right? Right?? Fog's sort of wintry isn't it.
  14. The obsession with mild is one thing, but has anyone noticed the apparent obsession with sunshine too? Not one BBC forecast goes by without the phrase "get to see some sunshine" or "there will be plenty of sunshine" or variants of those being used at least once. Are the BBC lot under orders to say the word "sunshine" as often as possible? Hope the moels show some promise soon. GFS just past ten days out is starting to show some decent cold at least.
  15. Well it's murky and cloudy but at least it's cold and settled. It could be a lot worse that's for sure.
  16. At least it's cold. Still waiting for snow but it's nice to see some cold weather at least. Bring on the Beast from the East.
  17. All this excitement about the latest charts, but from my (albeit inexpert) point of view I se no difference. All I see is more promise in FI but again, within the 240 hr time frame it's as you were.
  18. I can't remember how many times I've seen the GFS end on a cliffhanger this winter. We need to see something happen within the 240hr timeframe, and soon.
  19. That's what caps lock is for... Pretty uninspired output from ECM it seems, but the GFS maybe a little more hope for us coldies. However with the SSW apparently in full swing now we should start to see the models reflect that. If it's going to happen it should happen soon.
  20. All we need now is for the ECM to follow up with something similar to the GFS para. If it does we might finally have lift-off.
  21. GFS 12z parallel is perilously close to setting up an easterly at 240 hours. Is it finally happening?
  22. Whatever happens I hope we don't have any severe gales blowing through. I've had my fill of Strong Winds and named storms already this year. If it's a choice between that dross and what we have now - mild, but relatively calm and benign - I'll take this any day.
