  1. Any more thoughts at all GP or have you quit now it's spring ???

I think people have thrown in the towel and accepted spring is well and truly here...though in the past, this time of the year used to throw many surprises. Mornings hot enough for sunbathing in April with two foot of snow by the afternoon. The spectacular start to winter has been followed by months of meh...I guess us snow lovers wanted just one more sight of the white stuff. Down here in the south, the soil is dry as a bone already...we actually only had one night of heavy snow...it remained so long because of the extreme cold and very little rain since...already talk of a drought :cc_confused:

  2. The regional posts have been a great idea, especially giving our area its own little forum. Generalised weather forecasts have always overlooked this no mans land !

I will hang about here a little while longer, hoping for one last bite of the snow cherry. A few days ago, my localised forecast from Netweather was full of snow icons...all now gone...sigh...

Any extremes of weather from now on, storms, high winds etc will find me scuttling back to the site :whistling:

  3. A butterfly hatched out in our shed today, I was torn what to do for the best for the poor little thing. It wouldn't have lasted long bashing up against the cobwebby windows but there are no flowers out yet and a frost due tonight. In the end I set it free and watched it fly about our fields in the sunshine. A short life but a merry one?

I am hoping for one more good snow cover to finish the winter...so many recent forecasts for snow have been downgraded to nothing. One more then bring on Spring! I know, I am being greedy :whistling:

  4. Cant have lying snow in march whistling.gif 1947 saw temps in the south of england of -21 with 40cm of snow in Birmingham.

Met office go along with the idea of major blocking and below average temps.

And April isn't called the cruel month for nothing. I remember walking around in a tshirt in an April heatwave then a couple of days later battling in a blizzard.

One memorable day, it was so warm and sunny one morning that some pals organised an impromptu barbeque in the afternoon. By the time we all turned up at their house, the first flakes of snow began to fall. An hour later it was a foot thick. We still carried on with the barby !

  5. Newbie here.

Currently snowing moderately here in Amersham after starting off as a rain/sleet/snow mix. Starting to leave the slightest of coverings on grassy surfaces. Hope it keeps up for a while longer before we eventually succumb to the milder air later on. Still a few patches left from the 1-2 cms we got yesterday

You Amersham lot always get better snow then us Cheshamites....helps being up a hill I suppose :D :D

No sign of it settling here :unknw:

  6. I saw another met office advisory for Wednesday...oooh....another chance for snow as we are going to miss out again on Monday...... :hi::D:hi: It was a warning of torrential wretched rain :D:wallbash: :wallbash:

i am really confused now bucks people. We have a weather watch be aware for heavy snow yet on the forecast its rain

Spotted that too, just too marginal to call I suppose. Down to Mother Nature to decide I guess, and thankfully She does love to give surprises

  7. now the heavy snow may be in south tommorow i hope i get a good a good dumping ...do you think it will cause disruption

Met office still saying rain for the Chilterns tomorrow though :D
