I can see some development to the SE from me now \o/ also some small thin wispy patchy stuff beginning to start overhead (only noticed when the sun dimmed slightly )

Not a cloud in the sky over Stoke on Trent (urgh) , bit of a breeze picking up though.
Was going to mow the lawn later this afternoon, but considering almost all the forecasts are putting us in the direct firing line now, looks like it'll have to wait (or at least I'm hoping it will ;D )

I think I remember that storm it was a late Sunday Afternoon and it was playing utter havoc with the then NEW Digital TV reception if i recall. Sorry to hear those around you don't appreciate the wonders of nature as much as we do!
Yup Probably the same one, we tended to have dinner around 4/5'ish' o'clock.
There was one when I was a kid too, about 30 odd years ago, (not sure if I was in the last year of primary or just starting high school). It was to the North (Mow Cop, Kidsgrove way, like normal) but it had, what I now know as, Anvil crawling lighting. At the time I thought it was really cool because it looked like the coral I'd seen in a nature documentary the day before . Never seen that type of lightning before or since

Aye, I cant remember the exact year, but I was definitely lot younger, where I still lived here but I remember seeing multiple storms going off in different directions, one strike resembling the filament of an incandescent bulb across the sky very vividly. Must have been early noughties or late nineties, just cant recall!
The last big one I remember is from about 20ish years ago at least, that has stuck with me, mainly because it came from the East, which is something that I'd never seen before or since, (for those that are unfamiliar with the location were on the western edge of the southern tip of the Pennines so any T-storms or easterly weather tends to get stuck on the other side) As it was getting closer I could start to make out a massive wall cloud in-front of it like something from a 'tornado/weather program' So ran inside excitedly to try and get my parents to come out and see it . But was greeted with the 'I don't care about a cloud the Sunday Dinners done now sit down' from my Mother so I was forced to miss the awesome storm because of Sunday Dinner

Ahhh that was nice, just raining now and I'm thoroughly enjoying the Petrichor scent from the open window. Ended up going downstairs and ogling at it out the living room window. Just before it started there was an amazing cloud, looked like a cross between an arcus and a roll cloud stretching across the entire sky from SE to ENE. Looked absolutely fantastic when it was being lit from behind by the lightning.

Looking to my west, I can see elevated lightning coming from that cell in Wrexham, Distant, but visible, with clear skies above me in Stoke!
I'm in Norton about half way up the hill so got an amazing view to the South and SE (or did rather, Mothers just chucked me out of her bedroom because she wants to go bed, honestly some people ;D ). Looks like these are going to miss us just to the west (as per usual) though I did see a couple flashes towards Hanley way. If we get anything it'll be from that direction so I'm crossing my fingers.

Can see the distant flashes of the storms over by Cherbourg - that lightning is about 100km away.
Keep an eye on the sky high above them, with lightning that intense there are bound to be some sprites going up
