  1. Hello all, I've been looking around for a weather station recently, but a more fundamental question seems to be how exactly I can mount the station in the garden. I'm envisioning a two metre metal pole skewered in the lawn, but I'm struggling to find anything that fits the bill. Do any of you have advice on such a set-up, and where to get hold of a pole like this?
  2. I'd be very happy with a 1995 analogy - there was a hell of a freeze at the end of December that year.
  3. A very pleasant 22°C here for most of the afternoon. Hopefully a bit fresher tomorrow too.
  4. Looking at my app, it's giving 51% chance of a storm here at 8am tomorrow. Unless it increases to 90%, I won't expect anything, this area's terrible for storms.
  5. Still awaiting a bit of a cold spell. Is this allowed? Otherwise, it'll be the usual vain hope for thunderstorms and heavy rain.
  6. I'm quite the opposite, sad to miss the brief opportunity for cold, sad for warm weather when stuck indoors unable to enjoy it.
  7. Oops, very late! 11.5*C, 72mm please. Penalty due no doubt!
  8. Was quite puzzled reading this thread, wondering how there could have been storms today with the pressure so high (not to mention it being the middle of winter). Then I saw the date...
  9. Possibly the highest pressure I've experienced in my life, I get the impression we're at about 1044 here - my aneroid agrees, although my Fitbit is only at 1038.
  10. I'm not sure about this - I just had a quick look at Wikipedia for the major eruptions of recent geological times, and we don't get Pinatubo-sized events much more than once per century. Of course, we may get one tomorrow, but it wouldn't be particularly surprising at these odds to be waiting another century or more for something big enough to affect world weather.
  11. That would be lovely, but instinctively, it seems overstated for here in East Lothian at least. I'll believe it when I see it.
  12. Björk - It's Oh So Quiet - takes me back to the deep cold of December 1995.
  13. Yep, Freezing fog for days in Yorkshire, I remember the rime being inches deep on branches, I think it was hitting around -15C overnight where I was in West Yorkshire, and a couple of days not above about -4C.
  14. Feels like the season in the Atlantic has fallen flat for the moment. What prospects for a late surge?
