  1. Some time ago it had the setup that is currently modelled by multiple models. I did say though it's not wednesday yet too.. So obviously it, like all the other models could still be wrong, but it appeared a bit more steadfast in its predictions.
  2. Yeah I was thinking along similar lines the other day, every cloud has a silver lining
  3. The premoderation of posts is not normal. Sadly the 'chase for snow' rather than objective discussion of what the models are showing is normal....
  4. If only people used the model thread to discuss what the models are actually showing rather than what they want them to show then the majority of dramas wouldn't happen. That grown men and women get so emotional about the weather is beyond me but each to their own.
  5. Have to say the AI Graphcast model has been performing reasonably well over the last 5 days that I've been following it. Though we're not yet at Wednesday it does seem to have handled the will it wont it low to the south quite well too. For those not familiar with it here is the link: https://charts.ecmwf.int/products/graphcast_medium-mslp-wind850?base_time=202401141200&projection=opencharts_europe&valid_time=202401241200
  6. Anyone keeping tabs with the AI models and what they are showing for next week?
  7. Looking at the radar now and the most recent met office high res ukv model (looking at wind convergence), we should be looking out for some streamer development from about 22.00 onwards. Radar is currently showing nada in the way of precipitation so I'm looking to see what starts to fire up from about ten this evening.
  8. Just watched the latest Met Office forecast video via their app and to say it was underwhelming would be an understatement. Lets hope for surprises. Come to think of it I don't remember the Met O forecasting the snow that fell here beginning of December so definitely a wait and see and fingers crossed situation.
  9. Looks like dewpoint temperature is starting to fall, potentially first signs of the colder air moving in from the East. Worth comparing these temps with a few hours as it will hopefully show when any showers are going to start turning more snowy. See map below which can be accessed from the 'Live' section of Netweather
  10. Sure ... Www.google.co.uk Only joking, this may help: https://www.weather.gov/source/zhu/ZHU_Training_Page/Miscellaneous/Heights_Thicknesses/thickness_temperature.htm
  11. Totally agree, the absence of discussion regarding this weeks storms and subsequent flooding really has made a mockery of this being a 'model discussion thread'. It's been solely focussed on the hunt for snow and more akin to a how and when will it snow thread.
  12. So thanks to @MATTWOLVES 3 I watched the channel 5 1947 winter documentary this evening, cheers to Matt for flagging it... I wondered if there were any netweather forum members that had lived through the 1947 winter and could share their memories, any pictures etc??
  13. And post of the year goes to.... Thank you for such a detailed and well explained post.
  14. I can vouch for that @Tamara I'm in porto with inlaws and its been very cold by night, 2c! And with no heating in a stone house it is very cold! Never imagined the pesky azores high would continue to haunt me! Feliz Natal
