  1. Stayed mainly dry, bar a few blobs of rain this afternoon. The sun (when it appears) plus the lack of wind means that it feels a lot warmer than it was in North Yorkshire where I was located over the past few days.
  2. I came back from a very cold and blowy North Yorkshire last night. A heavy shower as I came round the south side of Manchester but had cleared by the time I arrived home. A lovely start to today and, unlike North Yorkshire, no cold wind to peg the temperatures later. Fingers crossed for the washing outside.
  3. I seldom say 'I'm glad to be going home' but this was one such occasion. In all my time coming to the NY coast and moors, I've seldom felt so cold and yes, I am well aware of how cold the area can be at this time of the year, given how cold the North Sea is. Yesterday morning, the forecast showers arrived at 8am and, although it brightened up later, the wind was bitingly cold. Back home this morning, it is a beautiful start to the day and no wind to peg the temperatures later on. I'll be back in NY in a couple of weeks.
  4. mike57 Yes, that's what I heard. We had a hail storm on the moors at 9am and it then stayed dry but bitterly cold until 3pm when it unexpectedly rained really hard. The sun came out later and it has actually been a nice evening, with the cold wind dropping right off on the NY coast. Alas, it seems we may be getting showers from a feature from the North Sea early tomorrow which may stick around until late morning. I do not normally say it, but I am actually glad that I shall be heading back to Cheshire later tomorrow.
  5. A bit to my surprise, the sun came out at times during the afternoon, although still interspersed with mainly light showers. The main issue was the beastly wind on the coast which pegged temperatures drastically, with the East Yorkshire coast not getting above 5C today (BBC radio weather forecast). More of the same tomorrow it seems.
  6. The good news is that it's finally stopped raining (for the moment) and started brightening up a bit, the bad news is that there's now a howling and cold N / NE wind on the coast.
  7. What a miserable day on the NY moors. Despite the forecast of rain heading away south late morning, it continued to rain for most of the day and non-too warm either. Still raining on and off until recently. Can we hope for a drier day tomorrow? I certainly hope so. Edit - one thing that has not been a problem today is the wind, but it seems to be blowing up a bit now, which will not be a bad thing if it blows the main area of rain away..
  8. Back on the NY moors and coast until Thursday. A pleasant enough afternoon, a bit of sunshine, cool despite the lack of wind, but dry which was welcome. Not sure it's going to last that way with rain forecast for tomorrow to move down from the North. Not sure how much we shall see near the coast, hopefully not a lot!
  9. Brightening up here after a cold, cloudy start with spots of rain around. Off to the East coast later and not expecting any brightness there.
  10. A decent day in the end after late morning cloud cleared. Pity that Crewe Alex couldn't produce anything against Wrexham, but when you're playing against a side bankrolled by Hollywood, it's probably not very surprising.
  11. A totally sunny day and a Crewe Alex win this afternoon v Wrexham to confirm their place in their playoffs would do nicely. However, already signs of it clouding over after a gorgeous start and not holding my breath on the Alex.
  12. A nice day forecast for tomorrow, but we shall see. A Crewe win in the big game v Wrexham would make it a really nice day. My neighbour is heading to N W Scotland on Sunday whilst we're heading to the East Coast. Guess who's happier?!
  13. Turned into a quite passable afternoon, dry and bright and no precipitation ... so far.
  14. Depressingly wet last night when Mrs FLT and I had to go out. Very damp this morning but signs of it drying and brightening up, with glimpses of blue sky and a gusty wind. Hopefully it will be dry for the weekend.
  15. Steady rain has set in but at least it didn't affect my funeral visit earlier today.
  16. Times reports that 'cloud seeding' by the authorities may be partly to blame.
  17. Rush2019 yes, strange, we had a bit of rain last night after a dry day. Dry and bright this morning but quite chilly early. I have to attend a funeral later and hope the rain stays away until after the service.
  18. PennineMark other way round with us. Spots of rain early but turned into a nice day from lunchtime onwards.
  19. Bill Bailey the lightning over Penistone, yes I saw that, I think it must have been the national weather forecast at 10.30pm on BBC1
  20. It was dry and sunny at 6.30am, but by 7.30am it was raining again. Nuisance rain in the wind but rain nevertheless and unwelcome if it is a sign of things to come during the day.
  21. Torrential mix of rain and hail at 5.30pm for about 15-20 minutes but then cleared away to leave a nice evening.
  22. Cheshire Freeze I spoke too soon, pouring down now and I'm waiting for some thunder.
  23. Cheshire Freeze very strange, I was returning home in Crewe and could see some really black clouds and precipitation in the distance, but we have had no rain or wind in this part of Crewe so far. Obviously extremely localised and, with black clouds all around, I'm not sure we're going to stay dry.
  24. Chris.R dry here as well, bar a couple of light showers late morning. However, a lot of dark clouds around and actually a bit surprised that we have not caught a hefty downpour so far.
