  1. Or Cheshire. No thunder at all this year so far, no rain for 3 weeks. And with a nationwide storm warning today we still find ourselves in the tiny section without one. It almost feels deliberate.
  2. yea i guess its luck of the draw eh, im glad theres a been a bit more action down your way
  3. at least you getting something, we havn't had a raindrop for 3 weeks now lol and barely a cloud
  4. yea anywhere north of the M4 have had a terrible summer so far for storms, pretty much nothing at all except some places in Lincolnshire.....however south of the country continue to get absolute beasts on pretty much a daily basis now, its incredible really
  5. oh yes you are right i forgot about that night, 3 weeks then lol....but still a while back, looks like tuesday onwards we may have more of a chance
  6. Thought to myself this morning it would be so nice if anywhere other than the South have a storm chance....i look at the forecast and to my shock and horror yes its the same as always, the South hogging all the good stuff. I just want a raindrop up here, none at all for nearly 7 weeks now, all the grass is brown.
  7. Nothing once again today, maybe a little isolated storm for the SE (goes without saying) but generally for the rest away from the storm capital its just low cloud and drizzle
  8. How does that explain it going behind the cloud and coming back out
  9. They are not seagulls, how can they have firey trails coming out their weeble lol? Seagulls dont fly in formation too. It's not ball lightning either, pretty sure it's the persoids meteor shower, another video I posted here clearly shows one going behind a cloud and reappearing from behind it the other side before burning out.
  10. The cam quality is 1080mp, pretty much the best you can get for a webcam.... And not only that the meteors had a flickering firey trail and actually go behind a cloud before reemerging, that's one hell of a seagull if that's the case, check out the video below... 515176340_FerryCam-SouthamptontoCowesIsleofWightEnglandUKRedFunnelFerry(LiveCamera24_74K)VTS-YouTube-rome2021-07-2401-37-17.mp4.7652a913b2951e60e37db3721e73d9ff.mp4
  11. With trails coming out behind??? Its the persoids meteor shower, another user has already uploaded a different video with further meteors
  12. Another vid captured of the meteor shower on the Southampton webcam last night. Thunderstorm and meteors on same cam? I'd take that any day lol Edited_20210724_110527.mp4
  13. fair enough, Im glad Dorset and Hampshire have managed to have some action at least
  14. mate I'm used to it living in Cheshire, no rain for 6 weeks now and no thunder since August last year despite us having 13 storm warnings already this summer. I was just expecting so much more tonight based on the amount of attention this event got...oh well
  15. a bit of realism maybe. This storm event got sooo much hype this week it was incredible. I was expecting the Apocalypse. Instead we have had a few distant flashes over the sea and not a single strike on the mainland. As i initially predicted this would be the case. Oh well, lets roll onto the next 'event' which will ultimately let us down again lol
  16. after the hype it got this week i was led to believe it was gunna be the Apocalypse
  17. very poor, this is a massive disappointment after all the hype it has had for a week....i never take models seriously tbh after having 13 thunderstorm warnings in a row in my area that turned out to be glorious sunny days, load of rubbish they are lol....the best way is to just watch the sky and radar on the day
  18. yea but this set up was always gunna be a disappointment. classic case of few decent flashes out to sea and then convective rain once it hits land, really nothing to get excited about at least its cooled the air down
  19. lightning activity already weakening and its not even hit land yet.....even more disappointing than i thought....oh well, bring on the convective rain....
  20. that was always gunna be the case, lightning out at sea, makes landfall and lightning activity dramatically slows down and then it just turns into convective rain........ people always get excited on here for no reason lol
  21. dummy question.... How do we tell the difference between a false strike and a real one on the lightning radar??? few random strikes on there in seemingly random places but not sure if they are genuine
  22. I honestly think this will be just heavy convective rain with a few lightning strikes mixed in towards the CS and SE, and even the rain will be a lot further south than forecasted. Anywhere south of the M4 really.
  23. 100%. Classic scenario with the usual ingredients... Lots of lightning out to sea, as it moves in to the UK lightning becomes isolated and confined to only CS England and SE and then the rest of the South into Midlands get a heavy convective mess of just rain
