  1. we actually got a direct hit! Short-lived but quite intense as it rattled through, spectacular cloud structure as it approached and saw some flashes high up in the storm. The rain was incredibly heavy with some hail thrown in and had flashes every 3 or 4 seconds and non stop thunder for about 15 mins. All moved away now, perhaps more to come later. Second direct storm of the year which is better than the previous summers combined

  3. looks like we *may* be in with a chance if these storms keep on their track.....

  5. seems to be a repeat of yesterday afternoon at the moment, storms tracking along the same path NNE over Shropshire, up to Chester and into Merseyside. Unless there is eastern development then its all going to miss us again.
  6. 21C and most of the sky has cloud cover but the sun is out currently. Feels humid. Interested with the storms over Wales and Shropshire but looks like at the moment they are tracking NNE which again would mean they would miss us to the west, a repeat of yesterday so far. Hoping for some eastern development.
  7. a thundery shower in the last 30 mins, no lightning seen but its better than nothing. Not sure anymore is due for this area now
  8. not a complete disaster in the end....just had some on and off heavy showers with a few rumbles in the mix, no lightning seen. Feels a lot cooler now after the rain. A thundery shower or two is better than nothing i guess so I will take it.
  9. a few rumbles near Congleton and a moderate shower, seems to be a lot of cells popping off to the west of the Derby supercell
  10. is that storm over Lichfield spreading westwards?????
  11. looks like a supercell now in the Trent Valley area..unfortunately heading too far east of us but this will be the big storm that was forecasted tonight for Derbyshire and East Midlands area I would think
  12. according to lightningmaps there are a few strikes just north of Congleton....although i havnt heard any thunder so I'm not sure, got a moderate shower though and it is quite dark.

  14. its all going to south east of us now, when earlier it was all north west of us....oh well, another day in the 60% warning zone with very little other than a shower or two in the last hour to show for it.
  15. its pretty much like this every single time. haha.
  16. i think thats it for us now....one moderate shower aside another very disappointing day up here despite being right in the warning area.
  17. thanks mate but no chance.....we have had one direct hit this summer which sounds a lot but it isnt when you consider how many storms the North West have had so far this season....it could change though, still plenty of time this evening
  18. is anything due in that area today??? Absolutely everything so far has been too east this morning and too west this afternoon.
  19. Oh, well I was asleep at that time and certainly didnt hear anything to wake me up lol
  20. well as per usual for my area we have avoided absolutely everything. This morning storms just too far to the east, this afternoon storms just too far to the west...looking forward to this evening when we get storms just too far to the south
  21. so far here the usual has happened. In the morning storms just too far the to the east, this afternoon storms just too far to the west...I'm looking forward to this evening when we get storms just too far to the north. despite being in the 60% warning area we are still waiting for our first rumble or even single drop of rain.
  22. right ok, thank you...not sure if its worth having a bbq or not today
  23. Did somebody earlier say Cheshire was one of the main high risk areas? 60% plus warning? So far, we have been absolutely bone dry while half the rest of the country are enjoying storms.
  24. a few rumbles here in Congleton, no rain as of yet....no lightning seen either. Sky looks a beautiful mix of orange, pink and purple. Quite incredible.
