  1. well yea because there isnt much of the day left and the main bulk of the storms were predicted for the afternoon. There have been a few isolated stronger storms but nothing on the widespread level and severe strength they said. Tonight is not supposed to be anything significant except maybe a batch of rain from the channel gradually heading north.
  2. very disappointing day for most after the overhyped forecasts
  3. I think its safe to say the forecast was very overegged for today. Yes middle of the UK has had a few storms but none of them really that strong and considering there was supposed to be a large MCS and scattered supercells its quite disappointing. We have had about of 20 mins of light rain and one or two rumbles here and thats it.
  4. A very disappointing day again. One light shower lasting about 15 seconds.....and thats it. No idea how we have achieved it but we avoided absolutely everything.

  6. It just doesn't make sense. How can it happen every single time? They always die as it hits Stoke and then reintensify as they hit Manchester or the Mersey. it honestly makes no sense. I can understand it on the odd occasion but EVERYTIME??
  7. I really dont understand this, must be some kind of geological feature causing it......every storm that approaches us from the south instantly dies when it hits Stoke...and then shortly after reforms north of our town to continue heading north away from us. It happens far too often including again today. I would love to know what is causing this.

  9. Storm approaching Stoke from the south....whats the chances the Stoke storm shield kills it? 100% or 100%?? Edit: yep. it killed it. Think that is it for today then, everything is developing east of here now.
  10. Yep. As predicted the storm hits Stoke and dies.....and then a new branch develops to the east or west and carries on its journey missing us completely. Happens everytime.
  11. a cell has just developed over Church Stretton....you might be in luck
  12. Yep, the only place in the country that hasnt got any action...and its us.
  13. quite a few cells approaching from the south towards Stoke. Whats the odds the storm shield kills them? 100% or 100%?
  14. what is the area of interest for the supposed MCS this evening? There is quite a wide area of isolated popcorn cells at the moment, none of them particularly strong though
  15. Hard to tell what diresction they are moving in, some look NNW, some NNE
  16. a lot of cells breaking out now from North London up to the Midlands...all supposed to join up into a MCS later as it moves north and merges
  17. judging by the radar it look likes the cells have a more NNW movement as opposed to the predicted NNE...is that subject to change do we think?
  18. lots of initiation happening now from a line going right from North London up to Wolverhampton...cap has been broken.
  19. People concerned about the rain mass in the Channel scuppering the rest of the days chances....it won't. Its unrelated to what the models are suggesting. Cells will develop around a line from Bristol to Oxford and move north later this afternoon I think gradually merging into one complex system into the evening. Potentially turning into a MCS. All the ingredients are in place.
  20. There are different variables that contribute to the colour of lightning. The temperature of the bolt, humidity, concentration of dust and ice particles and the distance of the bolt from the eye. White lightning is by far the hottest and most powerful strike.
