Looking fairly good for my area I reckon - we are in the advisory which says possibly 5-15cm over high ground; at least with some fairly big (1000ft+) hills around in the Cotswolds, there should at least be some snow around so I may have to have a bike ride up Cleeve Hill early tomorrow morning

Can confirm a very heavy snow shower - started with rain/sleet but then gradually got heavier as the wind picked up. They weren't large flakes. It settled a little bit, temporarily, on the ground. I took some pictures and a video to confirm which I'll upload if they came out OK.

Its sleeting and snowing here, and very strong winds, correction, its like a blizzard now and temp is 2.3c and dewpoint is 0c...perhaps a sign of things to come!

Hi James, not looking too great for the south-western quarter this time I am afraid. I reckon you could get some on Saturday and Sunday early morning, so if you get up Cleeve Hill after any decent heavy shower you may get a nice covering. Seems like a mainly eastern England/east Midlands event but not exclusively. Only an amateur so not the best source of info, but happy to try and help
Ps. The forecaster on Midlands Today described it as "not so nice weather" this weekend, I would disagree totally!

It hasn't been a good winter at all round here for snow - the most we had was about 2 inches on the hills a few months ago, whilst down in Cheltenham there was a slight covering that lasted about an hour! But it would be nice to see some more PS. 2cm would be a lot as it would be the most we have seen down at lower levels for several years now!ANYWEATHER - Thanks for your advice as well
- I didn't see your post till after I had replied to Nick's. I won't get my hopes up too much but if we do get some round here it would certainly be very welcome! -
Hi,
Could anyone tell me how it's looking for snow in the Cotswolds region and Cheltenham this weekend? Cleeve Hill (1083ft) near us usually gets settling snow even if we don't have any down here so if there is any on the hills I will certainly be up there with my camera :wacko:

Good afternoon from Cheltenham in midwinter! It's 16C with wall-to-wall sunshine and not a breath of wind. I propose we abolish winter and have a "late autumn" from November to February, and "early spring" from February until March! It would certainly make more sense since a high of 16C wouldn't be too shocking in May or June...

Was an immense squall earlier this morning - very high winds and absolutely torrential rain. Lasted only about 10 mins at the most, so unfortunately it was over before I had time to capture any video/sound. weather.co.uk recorded a gust of 63mph which I could believe.

After having just been woken up by one of the heaviest squalls of rain I've seen since June and an extreme gust of wind I thought I would post on here. I tried to get some video/sound but it was too dark and I didn't have time. Current conditions:

I'm still here, just been away more today... we fortunately still have water running and power for the moment. Sympathy to the worst affected areas of Gloucester and Tewkesbury without power and soon to be without water! It's never just one thing lol!

Metoffice webcam shows that the overnight snow has melted in Aviemore town but I checked the map for S Slochd near it on the traffic cam where there's still snow - it's at about 1300ft (Aviemore is about 600ft) which would explain why there's still some left over.
Does anyone know what the relatively large area of precipitation over N Wales/Cheshire is falling as? Because it looks like it could be possibly heading our way... :lol:
