  1. I'd say just keep an eye on how things play out, think there's potential for a covering for parts of the midlands tomorrow, but as always keeping expectations low, and i expect a lot of will have melted by friday as milder uppers come into play.
  2. If theres anything the past couple of days have taught us; 1) Being a west brom fan is about as enjoyable as scraping nails on a chalkboard 2) Nothings a cert at the moment, seen some stunning snowfall the past couple of days! I wouldnt write anything off at all.
  3. Absolutely stunning up near Kinver today. Easily a good 8-10cm covering on the higher parts!
  4. Tell you what guys, i have been spoilt rotten since yesterday morning. about 6cm yesterday and id say another 2cm top up today. Roads are a mess at the moment, winter wonderland. Even if thats our lot, we've had a good little snow event this winter, and compared to the past few, its already better!
  5. starting to stick a bit more here now! still fairly wet snow but the roads are recovered.
  6. Snowing here for the past hour, but not settling really. Just thick snowflakes that are too sleety, looks pretty bad on the roads around cannock to rugeley though? Must have had a good top up there. I did go up to the sheepwalks earlier (Around 200m elevation) and it was paradise; a good 8cm of lying snow i would say there, was spectacular! Supposed to heading to chasewater later from here, roads should be ok i hope?
  7. Here’s a question; how does everyone live so high up compare to me? I feel like I’m in the Mariana Trench here at 100m elevation. Have you all got stilts
  8. Not holding out a lot of hope now for down here; for today or tomorrow now (looks like your classic m4 south event and we’ve been there countless times before where it moves increasingly south with model outputs) but I’m still pleased we got a good accumulation yesterday if nothing else! Hope you lot further north and east get some snow before it turns back to rain.
  9. Quite right if it is around freezing all day then minimal thaw; any lying snow will suppress the temp so let’s see!
  10. It always is sadly, called the pub run for a reason; always worth taking with a pinch of salt! I also wouldn’t be surprised if it was more rain than snow tomorrow but time will tell! Other thing is; higher daytime maxima will mean a quicker thaw after any snowfall most likely. Although today’s was a fair bit lower than predicted!
  11. I'd say 70% of what fell this morning (about 6cm here) has gone, just a mushy mess really. Fingers crossed for both east and west mids tomorrow!
  12. Exciting, but if last night taught us anything... expect the unexpected. Meaning we've probably had our go Time will tell as ever!
  13. I mean more specifically though, we do ok on a midlands level, luck of the draw at times!
  14. True, i wonder if you compared the midlands though and which areas get most lying snow days on average. There must be some record of it somewhere?
  15. Will keep north shropshire in my prayers for ya Hopefully you can get a covering , its an annoying spot shrewsbury (I love the town though, brilliant place) so much that its fairly low lying and got the shropshire hills that absorb most of the orographic precip before it reaches you.
  16. I think this sums it up perfectly. How i'd love some colder uppers or a decent cold pool to our north or east to tap into!
  17. Yeah i can imagine the road out past buttonaok towards kinlets in a bit of a state! A slight thaw here but i think we'll retain most of the snow today now.
  18. The temperatures would bother me surrounding any long lasting snowfall in our region. Already its very slushy around here, will keep an eye on things for wednesday of course! But we all know it'll be that marginal that nowcasting will come into play.
  19. Google maps really clearly shows the areas affected, west of the m5, m5/m42, m54 between telford and wolvo, and then over towards cannock too, seems to be the worst affected on the roads at least?
  20. I think we might very well have been in the sweet spot this morning. Good 4-5cm covering in stourbridge here at least which has been a very welcome surprise! Just shows eh, youre thinking not a chance before bed and then you get this. Im hoping we can all see some of the good stuff in the coming week! Just shows how short notice it really is with forecasting snow.
  21. Had a couple of cm here and still snowing. After a few awful consecutive winters this is great to see hard luck in shrews, you do seem a bit hard done by but just an area west of Bham up to stoke seems to be the place to be this morn for accumulations?
  22. Lets see eh, gonna take the dog up the south shropshire hills anyway and see if theres any lying snow in view. Sadly i think the brecon beacons looks the ideal place to be, but out of reach with covid
  23. How we doing midlanders? I used to be on this forum way back when as azores92 but couldnt find my login details so i've remade an account. Doing a postgrad in meteorology so obviously want to retouch base with this forum. Anyone out in south shropshire? Half a chance of some lying snow on the long mynd/clee hills tomorrow with this little feature so i may take a drive out there at lunchtime with the dog!
