  1. That's a good point. MetOffice have changed their outlook for me to light showers from Heavy Snow right through to Wednesday evening, so a big downgrade from them. NetWeather are forecasting the odd light shower (under 0.5mm each 3 hours) tomorrow morning then nothing tomorrrow night and Wednesday. We're told to ignore these due to convection. I'd love for them to be wrong but my money is on the multi-million pound systems sadly. I'd love to be wrong though.
  2. There's no place for that level of positivity here! Anyway, postie has just been and he didn't slip once coming up my drive. A sign of a poor snowfall. I still think we'd be buried if I hadn't bought a sledge at the weekend.
  3. I've been negative from Saturday night. I want an honorary badge please? Knowing my luck i'll not get one, just something else i'll not get
  4. Whickham currently has it's first 'real' snow shower of this spell. Small flakes, but snow nonetheless. We're not a million miles from you so may get to you soon.
  5. Yep, we had one but there would have been tussles for it so picked a second one up in anticipation. We're moving house in 2 weeks so could do without the extra clutter but as this snow spell was nailed on figured it was worth it...
  6. We're the same in Whickham. Whenever I mention people tend to say 'ah near the Metro Centre'. We are, however there's your choice of 3 huge hills to travel up to get here. We're closer in altitude to Stanley. My house is 175m ASL
  7. I was down the team valley earlier too from whickham. Same intensity of shi... Showers as up in Whickham where there's a thin blowy layer, yet it was melting on the valley instantly. It was 1 degree down there and - 1 up at home, so there's definitely something in it.
  8. That's my short of choice. Or an amaretto sour, that is something else. We went to an AI hotel in Crete (remember when you could go abroad) and disarrono was on the menu. I must have put a couple of bottles full back in sours.
  9. I've been quiet today as I was told on Saturday night and this morning when I said it was disappointing and my luck wasn't in that I was being negative and it will come. Tomorrow will be the day. Well tomorrow may never come. The original forecast was for heavy stuff Sat afternoon through to Monday with showers right through the week before a south westerly front hit on Thursday and dumped another few inches. Then it was Saturday night. Then Sunday morning. Then it was 'yeah this morning was always going to be quiet, wait till later'. Now it's showers Mon to Wed and dry after that. If we get a good dumping over the next 48 hours I'll eat my hat, but I can see 2 or 3cm blowing in the wind as all we'll get sadly this week. The jury is out for the rest of this month but it looks to be cold with HP so no snow, but high gas bills. Anyway, I blame myself. I bought a new sledge on Saturday morning for my little one.
  10. Well that was disappointing. I'm not sure what forecast people were looking at but, as of Friday, the radars were showing decent levels of snow falling in my location from around 3pm and MetOffice the same. Yesterday morning it was shown as heavy snow from 6pm on radars and forecast. We haven't had anything. So I don't see how it is as forecast?
  11. The forecast seems to have been watered down all week. Fingers crossed the wisdom of this group is right regarding convection being poorly forecast.
  12. Being new to all of this, is there a reason all of the showers 'disappear' as they hit land? I'm guessing that won't happen.
  13. Drove up Lobley Hill bank earlier today to see a bulb getting replaced in a lamppost. Come on, own up, who was it??
  14. Must admit I'm starting to think it's not going to be that good for us up here. Looks like the heavier stuff will be far south of us. Hopefully I'll be wrong but MetOffice and netweather are both forecasting light snow showers on Sunday and Monday for us now with heavy snow down the east coast.
  15. Looks like it'll be marginal again. I'm at around 170m but nearest forecasts are 125m and 200m. 200m has snow, 125m has sleet then rain
