Agreed, this could be the start of a more intense streamer that Euro4, Arome and Arpege have modelled crossing into South Yorkshire at 22:00. Interesting.- 2

A lot can and probably will happen in the next 72 hours. The proper cold is in now , so let the fun and games begin.

Deep orange almost red echo headed towards Rotherham. The stuff in the North Sea has just loitered around in the same place, not sure what it’s doing.

Heavy shower Sheffield 6.

Is the merger of the streamers what GEM predicted? Really good if so.

Any ideas what kind of time that's likely to land?
Based on current wind direction I would say it’s likely to take this track, but not sure if wind is due to change. @Craigers and @Scott Ingham are better at picking up on radar patterns.

What a bizarre amber warning to put out, the last snow event that had a yellow warning was worse. It’s due to expire at 14:00 so unless theirs the mother of all streamers, seems like the weather has duped the big boys at the met.

The echos near Driffield have got Barnsley/Sheffield North name written all over it. Let’s hope it keeps its intensity.
EDIT Doncaster and @Scott Ingham rotherham, might have to dig them lot out. ?

@Scott Ingham as someone who is still learning about convection/snowfall. I can see why you made the prediction of 20cm and possibly more for some areas in our region. Just had a really heavy burst lasted around 15 minutes and dropped a cm of snow. The Daughters nursery in Barnsley saying they haven’t had much only 10 minute drive away. Crazy, but goes to show we are all in the game today, just need a little luck.

Wow blizzard like conditions north Sheffield.

@Craigers unfortunately that stuff on the radar looks to far south already to affect Sheffield/Barnsley surely? The gap between Hedon and Hornsea is what I’m watching with the wind direction or is it due to turn more easterly?

Just seen that streamer (North of Peterborough) on the radar too, Appears Intensifies quite quickly. Hoping this pattern starts to trend further north.

Nice upgrade! Got to say you can’t rule out further upgrades, I know some on here have suggested that precipitation charts in this sort of set up can often underplay what actually happens. Fingers crossed stay positive, and hopefully theirs a streamer with your name on it. Yorkshire is King.....I hope.

Although we have had light snow on and off this morning that hasn’t settled, the wind has done a good job of drying surfaces and keeping temperatures fairly low.
-
I see the @Craigers radar prediction system has just been initiated, not failed us in the south of the region yet. I expect the showers you have identified to Become more organised throughout the day, like in 2010 and 18. ?

Lightest of snow, no issues with it sticking. Hopefully the beginning of a some decent showers throughout the day.

Might not have had surprise snowfall but the radars given me a surprise. Within 5 minutes most of the precipitation disappears in the North Sea and somehow appears clumped together in wales. Very strange.
