  1. It's certainly going to be a scorcher today! We dropped to a comfortable low of 20.2 last night around 1.30. We are quite close to Croydon where they keep mentioning the minimum of 25c, but it is full of concrete! With ice blocks in front of the fan, I slept quite well considering. There was a bit of a breeze this morning to move the warm air around the house before I spotted the 8am temp was around 29c. It's now showing 37.1 - dropped from high of 37.4 at
11:45 - there may be high cloud, I can't see as the curtains are now closed.

    Any sign of summer yet?

Overcast and windy yet again, and oh look, it's a northerly.

I am fed up with this near constant strong breeze, hardly had a calm day for months.

Although I can't really complain, as we have had some good weather in my bit of the south east, there has been a constant, nagging and often cool wind, and without the sun warming the conservatory and back garden, my living room (home office) doors remain shut as the wind blows in making me cold. It hasn't even reached 18c today yet due to the cloud cover - fairly poor mid summer, midday temp. I'm sure it will jump if the sun appears.

  3. Quick moan here about the wind. Really getting on my nerves now. We are in the middle of a 10 day van trip, we have done Southern Scotland are now in Northumberland. I can cope with the temps and showers, and had one day of rain which we drove East to escape, but there has been a constant gusty wind that we can't avoid, only had 1 day of relative calm on Sunday.

  4. We were supposed to go to Austria in December, but swapped to Tignes from 11th until 18th where we enjoyed perfect conditions but came home with covid for Christmas. However we feel lucky to have skied as so many people will have missed out, and all the testing was a worry, hard work and an extra expense, especially for families. It looks like conditions are not so good now without much new snow and very high temps.

  5. First day back home after a 10 day road trip around the south west and it truly felt like summer on all but 2 of those days (one of which started fine but ended in drizzly greyness the following day stared grey and drizzly, then cleared up as they day wore on). I complained, of course, but really we were spoilt with fabulous weather for our time away. The evening are cooler now, but there was even a bit of sunburn it felt that hot - doesn't happen that often in September. However, although today is pleasant back home, the garden is feeling distinctly Autumnal

Well as good as the weather is today so proper payback in store for the later part of the weekend and early next week, not overly wet but more muck from the north east and temps struggling to get past 13/14C at times….

Surely not unless you are on the NE coast? Just booked my week off "at least it will be dry"
