Second time my 10 year old has been out today to clear the driveway! Arguably a hell of a lot more snow this time that earlier on....

Went and measured from a undisturbed spot in the garden about an hour ago and we had reached 8.5cm in Kesgrave (just outside Ipswich).

Slowing a little in intensity at the moment but we are still under the snow so more to come I would think.

I remember doing that when i was about 10 which was in 1978! It was practically accumulating faster than I could shovel - very exciting:)

  2. Goodness me, it is hard to keep up on here with the amount of posts. I guess that is why we split when there is an event.

If I quote anyone, I'm then taken to the latest page and Iose my place! Even as I type this I can see another 14+ replies I'll miss when I click submit

Temp and dew at -1.2c in the garden, but the small amount of laying snow is deceptive, it is the sort that melts and goes brown as soon as you step on it.

Might be time to delete weather apps they are rubbish at predicting the weather in future I shall just look out of the window .

Sadly my met office app has been right. Delayed onset and light snow. I am curious as to how the met office update the app, it changes so often at the moment, is there a person sitting in Exeter doing it manually based on the radar

  4. Bit of a let down, tiny flakes blowing in the wind and the main band of heavy precipitation looking very narrow.

The met office app looked correct when I went to sleep. No snow until 8am then light patchy snow all day.

Update, opened the blind now and it's a little heavier. App now says it will ease off this morning and get heavier for a while this afternoon.

    Let"s see what happens...

  5. OK, was trying not to get excited but i think the time has come to let the butterflies loose. The sledges that we optimistically brought down from the loft for last Sunday week are still in the corner of the living room as the next cold snap was nudging into view. There wasn't quite enough snow for me to bother on the last event, but I feel a bit more hopeful this time. I should be skiing in the Dolomites this week but sledging in Coulsdon will have to do instead!
