In life i have found what you think about you get, so lets all think snow!!!!
I've been thinking of nothing else for weeks
-
I'll still give the benefit of the doubt to the Met Office for the time being. I mean, if things were going to really quiet down they would have updated by now-surely?
I think they have, just a warning for the special bits of kent, then all green for mon-wed for us
-
Thanks Steve, and Paul for telling it like it is. I can now switch off the light, close the curtains and try to find something else to do. It like something has died... I trust what you are saying and as one of those foolishly hoping for change, I finally can't see it coming.
Time to start talking to the BF again...or any films on tonight?

Essential viewing - better than the TV

This cold spell is costing me a fortune in electricity - no, not the heating - the 500w floodlight in the garden on permanent snow watch

WHEN ARE THE THESE WINDS GOING TO TURN EASTERLY , IM SORRY BUT WATCHING THOSE SHOWERS HITTING KENT FOR 24 HOURS is slightly annoying.
Ah yes, the mysterious easterly - always a day away. I was just daydreaming of what would have happened if the wind had changed
-
How much of a delay is the radar supose to be?
Hi, I don't know what it is supposed to be but mine is always 15 mins behind and I don't always have exactly whats showing. I think someone else mentioned yesterday a delay between what you see and what you get
-
Very light snow here now, just like the radar shows but about half an hour later. Sometimes it is hard to see if it is not just blowing in the wind, but the front lamppost says it is the real thing

Francis Wilson is very good especially during the winter months. In the 1980's Francis forecast rain would definitely turn to snow, but all of the other forecasters said it would only rain. Lo and behold, I woke up the next day with 6 inches of snow. Francis is someone to listen to especially with our current very cold period. Here are some recent snap shots of forecasts by Francis......
Hey, that gives me some hope, probably mean some constant lamppost watching tonight then (reports of light snow now coming in from the kitchen window)

Stop moaning Wallington was all white this afternoon a good couple of inches there I reckon still laying from the other day when you had snow from morning till night. Wallington is just a bit too far down the hill to get a lot more we have double that up near Oaks park only a mile from you!
I think you exagerate HP, not a couple of inches - maybe 2cm at a push - with a stretchy ruler. I feel I have as much right to moan as anyone else her in my position - am not the only one - and as you can see my post is not all moaning as I have car, can travel...off out again to Kent tomorrow by the looks of it...

Good Evening everybody. Due to the pathetic covering snow here in South London I ventured out to Oxted and Westerham to get a taste of real snow. And fabulous it was. We started off with a little sledging in Purley then drove out to Oxted - getting lost in Westerham on the way. Proper snow was falling, gently covering the roads, blowing across fields smoothed with days of snow and ended up trying out all the available ales in a fantastic pub - the Royal Oak in Staffhurst Wood watching it snow from a cosy bar. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Sadly I had to come home, and although it was snowing lightly giving a slight covering to Wednesdays snow, I find, as I excitedly returned to the forum/radar, that it is perhaps all over bar the whining. No Met Office warning update, a bit of light precip, and everyone bemoaning the last of intensity
Can anyone help me out with a more positive forecast? Where is the easterly? Frist New Year, then Saturday - then sunday - now monday....
-
Looks like south London is coming very much into play for today now, with the band of PPN heading to the NW from Kent. Let's hope that direction maintains and London should pick up some cms from this...
Yes that band does look very nice atm, and heading our way for a change. Hope it maintains that momentum

Well after seeing the news this morning. Feeling a bit gutted that even Spain has more snow than Croydon. Never mind does anyone know if we are gonna get a top up tonight and tomorrow. BBC weather not being very good at the moment with there graphics ( well I'm hoping that is the case lol)
Morning, lots of little showers here at the moment, even when the sun is out - very pretty but not as much as we would like huh? friends in N Spain are telling me about the snow there - unusual for them. I'm off for a drive SEwards to see what I can find...

Terrific, that just about completes my misery that has been the last 2 weeks of toss
The only thing worse than having barely any snow in what should have been dream synoptics; is not having barely any and spending 2 weeks following snow on a radar that goes to everyone elses garden but yours.
That last minute change in projected wind direction up the estuary from direct East to NEE for Sunday is just about the cruelest thing that could of happened.
You have my sympathy, I know just how you are feeling
-
Not sure I understand this, but the map for towns has just been updated on the met office website... it has 2318 just under it... and looking at that it still suggests snow for East Kent from 1800 tomorrow through Sunday. unless it hasn't been fully updated yet?... but it seems to contradict what the BBC thinks if it is correct.
I'm in for a light snow shower in about half an hour according to that, can't see it on the radar but am prepared to wait up
-
Well the Met Office invent gives me snowfall from 3-6am, can anyone tell me if it is worth setting to alarm clock, or is that "yesterdays news" as the winds don't look like turning east now?
-
OK, just watched Rob the Ramp's forecast - he specifically mentioned the worst hit areas - but does look like Gtr London remains in the firing line... phew
That's good news, I'm saving myself for the 10 o clock news forecast
-
here here, also surrey sounds nicer too.
Yep, you'd never say Croydon or Sutton, London would you?
-
Downgrade for London? Barely two hours ago it was all sorted??
We can only hope this will mean another upgrade - everyone seems so unsure
-
Snow to the left of me snow to the right, stuck in the middle with nought
-
Can anyone tell me where the Eastern promise is - it has been talked about since New year but is yet to materialise. When will the wind change?
-
Sorry but Sutton is in London, no question. The Post Office calls it Surrey but that's just because they refused to change their addresses in the 1960s when London expanded. Croydon, they are another one. Croydon is in London, not Surrey! There are loads of places like that in Gtr london. Anyway, back to the weather. London snow chances this weekend people?
Nah - Croydon is in Surrey, but like Sutton it is a greater london borough, I hope the snow knows this when Surrey is due a blizzard
-
BLizzard like conditions , the pavements/road line has vanished
very happy for you Neil, you wanted this so bad, hope it will happen to me if I wish as hard as you did

Glad to see we keep the part 45!
