  1. I'm a dirty immigrant from the other side of the country, and a Newcastle fan (least I'm not from Yorkshire). A relief that they don't get brought up much in this thread though... looking forward to another defeat tonight, hopefully enough to get the Donald Trump of football sacked. Circling this back to the conversation of weather, there's a slight chance of snow falling on pitch during that match, could be the most interesting thing about it.... Got the dreaded cold rain here at the minute though, but at least something is falling from the sky.
  2. Radar seems to think there's been sleet/snow here for the past 15-30 minutes. I'm not even convinced it's raining....
  3. Been a few comments here about going snow-necking. You shouldn't be doing it anyway for a million obvious reasons, but not only do the police seem to be actively looking for snow-neckers if you have the misfortune to crash (others might read that as getting karma) you will be fined for breaching Covid regs alongside driving tickets applicable. Crash couple fined after drive from Leicester to Stoke 'to experience the snow' WWW.BBC.CO.UK Eight emergency vehicles attended the scene after the vehicle came off the A50 in Derbyshire.
  4. I take it tomorrows snow has been cancelled with everybody looking at Thursday?
  5. To be fair there was pretty widespread news coverage of an event that only hit Yorkshire and our neck of the woods a few weeks ago.
  6. Looks to be. Also more activity near the IoM in different spots so brings more of region into play.
  7. Should be a good night for those in Greater Manchester looking at radar...
  8. Apologise can't remove quote on phone. Snowed here. Missed the actual shower as was on bog (Part the reason I'm still up) but just looked out window and a good covering of snow where there was concrete half an hour ago, hard to tell if it's still coming down but think it's stopped.
  9. There was a map going round showing - 8C in some city centre in the Midlands earlier, looking at -8 to -12C in rural areas easily. Don't have a temp gauge here but phone says - 3C and that's in a town with some cloud cover and minimal snow cover.
  10. Going in the midlands thread was a bad idea. Jealousy meter soaring.
  11. Looks like one of these showers might hit me, so going to stay up to see if it can a) get to land without dying b) is snow.
  12. I know this has been a nice winter, and we've had some decent snow events. But... Every event this winter has been extremely showery in nature, even the ones that have been a heavy total fall, don't we've had a full 24 hour period of snow falling from the sky constantly at a heavy intensity, given how often rain manages to do that round here throughout the rest of the year, is it being greedy to just want one event like that before winters out - a solid 24-72 hours of falling heavy snow. Not shower, thaw, shower, or a big dumping in an hour or two of a few cms, a few days thawing then a top - just a constant stream of snow for days on end...
  13. I spent a good few minutes looking at going 'but that's the midlands....
  14. Shame these showers are so patchy as allowing sun to thaw in between them, could be really significant accumulations if they get more organised.
  15. Couple of inches? Did you use the same measuring tape you give the wife? Looks an inch at most.
  16. Under the northern end of it, you should be. Gone from dusting to nearly a complete whiteout.
