yeah it seems the thunder and lightning were quite localised as shown by the radar lightning detector

Holy sh*t i’ve just had an insane hailstorm here with thunder and a really close c-g strike which I caught on video. I’m so chuffed

Just heard a single rumble from nearby shower, technically making it my second storm of the year.

The time-lapse shows an almost whale's mouth feature to the left, with the heavy precip core to the right.

Night time is difficult as you say but far easier than daytime, I have very few good daytime strikes in over 35 years of taking lightning pics.

I’ve obtained a few since 2020, but yeah they’re harder to get than night ones

However if that region in the blue circle also becomes storms then definitely game on for most of the NE and the Midlands too.

If that comes you’re way I’ll probably have clear sight to from my east facing window. But I’m not going to too excited because we’re in a low risk area

Highly doubt I’ll get anything where I’m at, but there may just be the off chance of some distant lightning if the storms get positioned far enough north. I’d love to chase but I’ve got work early next day.

Appears to be a bit of rotation from a cell near Doncaster.

I got a few thundery showers near me, south of Doncaster. Managed to get a spark from a small cell; I’ve edited the image so that you can see the bolt more. Also saw what looked like a funnel cloud, but is probably just some suspicious looking scud.
