nothing but a shower that 50% forecast and hail is looking 'optimistic' at best... the band from east to west appears to be stronger on the east side.. perhaps it'll turn into something, but i'm not getting my hopes up.

spent the last 30 minutes videos / saw some brilliant CG... hopefully i'll be able to pick apart the videos later and see if i caught anything front window was facing the storm that came past crewe over northwich and seemed to thin out over us a bit, looks like it's powered up again over leigh

i swear warrington has some sort of device to divert storms....

it's looking tasty out there, think this is going to scoot past me unfortunately - and it seems to have stopped producing lightning like it was earlier..

A handful of flashes and distant rumbles here. Plenty of rain. Fingers crossed for a bit more later in the week.

Cheers that's super useful... i'm going to be at the kids football training at 6.... right when all that CAPE lands... and all the forecasts i've looked at suggest that might be when things start kicking off today..

where do you get the CAPE forecasts? is it a subscription thing?

Think there are a bunch of reasons to believe the next week will bring some decent storms for some.. a relatively long warm summer (if dry...) must put some energy into the atlantic somewhere.. and with a bit of luck we're getting air from a more westerly direction so should bring some of that moisture in.. rather than the southerly's that've just brought all the dried out air from the continent.. forecast says it's going to be high 20s here tomorrow - feels like it's teeing something up.. but hard to say what exactly..

totally random thought - anybody reckon that line of storms and strikes has anything to do with the railway line - it's almost a perfect match

Suprised nobody has pictures of what's going down just north of York right now.. looks like quite a decent shower with a handful lightning strikes in the last half hour

Theres no forecast for anything today. But sometimes when I see skies like these I get over optimistic

feels far to windy / gusty again here for anything to materialise.. i thought it was going to happen last night (like a few people did because of the heat..) instead it seemed to just fizzle out. that said - it's not gone below 17 degrees, and it's definitely more humid now than it has been for days - so perhaps we'll have more luck today. looks like another warm weekend, so think there might be more chances of storms for over the weekend / early next week

We’ll no storms today, or at least no lightning. We did have a brief downpour that I thought might have electrified. But no. Although i also wasn’t surprised. some interesting convection about today though just not enough to turn it into anything.

that said... there's clearly some convection going on somewhere... i think this is what has passed over today already, but seems to be growing rather than shrinking. heading towards the pennines and getting pushed upwards.

i'm finding it hard to believe we'll get any storms today, latest GFS charts show something about 3pm possibly, but it's lashing it down here now.. perhaps it'll gather enough energy for later in the day..

Wonder if it’s cooled just slightly by the earlier storm and not pushed it up high enough. That convergence zone was a bit further east of you too so might have had a hand in it not pushing up as high.

That’s the problem with storms off to the N / NW. house faces the wrong way to get a good view

it's come out of nowhere this one. radar didn't show anything an hour ago. be interesting to see how long it lasts.. seems to have electrified pretty intensley over culcheth
