  1. Really warm and humid today which is disappointing. This wretched summer just won't leave us alone will it. I am getting tired of it now!
  2. Hated it! Far too hot for my liking except for that more unsettled period we had in June. Never-ending misery, but at least it's September now and the risk of seriois heat is rapidly diminishing.
  3. I usially look forward to seeing snow and cold in winter but this year, with circumstances being what they are re energy prices I think it's in almost all our interests if it's a mild one this time.
  4. I remember not long ago people would say "40 celsius would never be recorded in the UK", with their rationale being the UK is too small a landmass and surrounded by water ergo we would never get the required daytime heating even in v hot airmasses. Well recent events have proven them wrong I'd say. We need to accept in a warming world and changing climate anything can happen, including previously unthinkable extreme events.
  5. Raining here too which is good to see. I must have a chuckle at the current Met Office forecast summary for my area though, which is "A cloudy start with a few spots of light rain and drizzle at first...". It's currently throwing it down out there and has been for a while now.
  6. More like the summer that has long outstayed its welcome... Cloudy but warmish where I am with little wind (again). There's supposed to be some rain later but judging by recent form I'm not going to get my hopes up.
  7. Agree 100%! Now, if only the weather would get the message and cool down a little more.
  8. Hey welcome aboard! The "MAD" thread is the Model Output Discussion thread, but is often labelled the MAD thread due to the sometimes rather hyperbolic and over-enthusiastic discussion that take place, especially in summer when hot weather seems possible (and in winter when cold weather seems possible).
  9. Oh please not another heatwave this summer! Rumours are flying around that a hot spell could happen during the BH weekend, which if it does happen is the last thing many of us need. Pray for rain is all I can say!
  10. I'm looking forward to enjoying some rain, and by enjoying it I mean getting out there in my wellies and raincoat, with an umbrella to hand, sitting in the shelter sipping hot drinks. After all, that's how sun-worshipers "enjoy" hot sunshine isn't it, slathered in sunscreen, sunhat and sunglasses on, sitting in the shade during the hottest part of the day.
  11. Couldn't give a stuff about sunshine, it's rain I'm looking for, and for the heat to stay away. The last couple of days have been a big relief and personally I hope we continue into autumn in the same vein, with some much-needed rain thrown in too.
  12. You and me both! There's nothing better than a nice drizzly day with overcast skies and a fresh breeze. I've had enough "warm sunshine" to last me a lifetime.
  13. Looks like, once we get into next week the warmth will be back and could be maintained for much of the rest of the month. However by the time we get to September itself temps may moderate somewhat, at least according to the GFS 12z run.. Personally I'e had enough of summer but it looks like it's not done with us yet.
  14. Lovely cool, fresh, breezy and cloudy day today. I wonder how long it'll last though.
  15. It's actually raining here at the moment! Only light spits and spots but it's so nice to feel some rain on my face for once. I'll stay out in it as long as I can (or until it stops altogether!).
