September 13 2016 was probably the best storm I've experienced. I'm holding out hope for another 30 days but so far, 2022 has probably been the worst year I've ever experienced
I don't want to jinx things but I honestly don't think you will be missing much in the south anyway. Whenever Dan uses the words "messy" and "setup" in a forecast it doesn't bode well for photogenic storms in my opinion. I prefer lightning with embedded rain, not the other way around!

But I think we are guaranteed something this time around because Dan's slight is practically all over the country. I'm a bit concerned about the slow moving showers though - surely the lack of movement will cause each cell to die off quickly in terms of lightning
If hot, dry and 40° is our new summer then, if anything, maybe the convective season will slide into the autumn and spring. I'm pretty sure that will mean more storms overall
I have to say I did kind of enjoy the sensation of the weather 'changing' both today and yesterday even if it ended up as drizzle. What we need is some good old British surface based filth!... Another June 28 2012 if you will
