Looks like we could be entering into an interesting September though, beginning with a potential plume at the  end of this month, and then finding ourselves on the battlefront between warm continental air, and cooler air from the north as things gradually settle into autumn. Plus the warm seas should help.

It’s all still to play for

I feel that. I'm throwing the towel in on the 30th September

The second week of September 2016 was great for thunderstorms. This year a rerun of that would definitely make it the best thundery spell of the year. In 2016 though there were big boots to fill coming off a very thundery June.

September 13 2016 was probably the best storm I've experienced.  I'm holding out hope for another 30 days but so far, 2022 has probably been the worst year I've ever experienced

It is the turn of the south today to see storms but I won't be chasing as I have other commitments. Rough guess, M4 southwards looks a good bet, especially the Eastern parts of southern England.

I don't want to jinx things but I honestly don't think you will be missing much in the south anyway.  Whenever Dan uses the words "messy" and "setup" in a forecast it doesn't bode well for photogenic storms in my opinion.  I prefer lightning with embedded rain, not the other way around!

Hi all, well lets hope for us storm lovers this heatwave goes out with a bang, although the forecast for here is not good for storms it just feels right, hot, sunny and clouds building, you never know.

It felt right last time lol 😉

But I think we are guaranteed something this time around because Dan's slight is practically all over the country.  I'm a bit concerned about the slow moving showers though - surely the lack of movement will cause each cell to die off quickly in terms of lightning

Come back from Corfu on Monday as well (night be a bumpy ride around Mid day landing at Gatwick)

In the meanwhile enjoying the planes, blue skies (capped atmosphere today, although that didn't stop the other Storms even in a dry area) and views on my trip and hoping for some Storms when I come back.

I went there too in the spring, very beautiful place.  Even in April we managed to get a loud thunderstorm!

I think it’s unavoidable we will get at least one extreme heat blip every summer now - feels like ‘wet British summers’ are going to be confined to the history books - it will be a summer of extremes generally, but dry will become the norm, and hot will be a regular thing

If hot, dry and 40° is our new summer then, if anything, maybe the convective season will slide into the autumn and spring. I'm pretty sure that will mean more storms overall
