  1. Temperatures already rising quickly in the west so they are getting rain - that's all just going to sweep over.
  2. My daughter reported "tonnes" of snow in Ebbsfleet. We started icy in our manor, particularly noticeable on some of the minor roads where some of the rainfall was still draining from fields and was now ice. No problem for me (snow tyre by name, snow tyres on car) but probably challenging for those on normal tyres. All gone by lunchtime, but it will be back tomorrow morning.
  3. I'm a newbie to this forum, although interested in weather as a scientific discipline. My eyes have truly been opened to the complexity of the atmosphere. I have learned so much since joining from the amazing and extremely knowledgeable membership here but I have so much still to learn. Thank you!
  4. Yes, looks that way; I could see a few spots of rain on the stones as I walked on the beach, but absolutely nothing on my jacket.
  5. Bizarrely, despite the radar clearly showing we are getting moderately heavy sleet, it remains bone dry here! The wind remains ENE, so it's either evaporating or being blown out to sea, I guess.
  6. Here on the coast we hit 1.5 at midnight, now creeping back up to 3 with the top of that low giving sleet and what looks like some proper snow sweeping up from the Channel - it's dumping on Dorset to West Sussex at present, but heading this way.
  7. I was trying to visualise that, as it didn't look familiar at all. As I spent 8 years in London by Lambeth Bridge I was a bit puzzled. And then it came to me - I hardly ever went across the bridge to the north; I always used Westminster Bridge! I had to check it on Google Streetview.
  8. What a beautiful morning! Crisp and frosty. The temperature is 3 degrees lower than forecast even late last night, so it just shows haw the models are struggling even at super short range. No wonder the Model thread is such a rich seam!
  9. Beautiful demonstration of the fronts coming through and the effects they have had on temperature, rainfall, wind speed and air pressure.
  10. Thanks for the heads up, Donna; I'm travelling through Rye in half an hour or so. I think it's the 4x4 not the sports car today...
  11. It has been lovely today, but that's classic behaviour between storms! It would be even better if it was 5 degrees or more colder, of course. There is still a lot of surface water and mud around on the roads.
  12. Pointless here as the council have installed very high and bright street lights, completely destroying any night seeing to the north. Although our view to the south is magnificent, there aren't many auroras in the south.
  13. Thanks, Alexisj9 - I didn't know it wasn't active. I have created a gallery of some of the pictures I took during and after the storm.
