Just been out in the car, a very heavy sleet/hail shower hit me on the way home, temps really dropped in the car to around 4 deg. Tomorrow looks pretty blustery, most of the weekend looks decent, but next week looks awful in the forecast! I know that's a week away and things change, so I hope they do.

Big MTB ride from Macclesfield Forest out over to the Goyt Valley and back today. First half of the ride was very cold, dull, foggy and windy. Last hour or so the gloom cleared and it was pleasant enough, but that wind would cut you in two. Ground has dried out somewhat in many places, but others not so much, yet.

This is more like it. Nice a crisp, sunny start to the day, just like early spring should be. Definitely chilly once the sun is gone, I was out on the bike last night and once the sun dipped down to the horizon the temp fairly dropped. Not much rain in the forecast now so lets hope this gives the ground a chance to start drying out.

So much for a settled period incoming. I went for a short cycle yesterday afternoon and got absolutely drenched. Really heavy rain for half an hour. The forecast showed light rain. It was biblical. Wet again this morning. Seems that will be the theme now for the foreseeable, there is rain in the forecast for every day here now.

The fields around us have been flooded all winter. Our back garden will be getting its own marine life soon if this rain doesn't stop A disgusting morning, very blustery and wet. Has eased now but looks like it will continue here for the afternoon. I'm off to Macc forest for a walk tonight, wish me luck!

It's been like this for a few years now, the seasons seem to lose their meaning really. Never a prolonged seasonal period of weather. It's just an ebb and flow of cold to warm, and wet to less wet. I do feel a little sad when I see plants flowering earlier than they should. I hope mother nature knows what it's doing in the long run. I would love to see a bit of proper winter before it leaves us for another year. On the talk of March snowfalls, I remember back when I lived at home in Belfast having a great snowfall not that long ago at the end of March into April. It thawed quickly, but it fooled us all at the time.
