  1. A very 2023 summers day. Just been out cycling near Alton Towers. Very dull, not very warm (although the sun did sneak through for 10 minutes) and the odd shower. Driving home through Leek there were plenty of showers on the horizon. This coming week doesn't look much better.
  2. Absolutely lashing it down here since just before 6am. I'd say easily, 10mm+ of rain. Feels very cool outside. Summer is well and truly gone now and we're into Autumn now, no doubt about that.
  3. So, it's been raining here for the last hour and a bit. Both in Congleton and further south towards Stoke. Nothing on the radar, nothing on the forecast. I'm I in the matrix? It's a proper dull, wet, cool day for August. Car is reading 15deg, although it is very still.
  4. Yea, noticed that too when I woke this morning. Been fairly steady moderate rain here since 0730 and doesn't look like clearing at the moment. Not surprised they got it wrong, has been a running theme this year. Still, at least it is fairly mild.
  5. Managed to get caught in the only shower over England this morning when out walking the dog Looks like it is brightening up though, hopefully that is the beginning of this spell of weather. The ground is soaked though.
  6. Yip, that rain just moved over me here, really heavy. Walking the dog later will be interesting, looks like another band coming in shortly.
  7. Absolutely chucking it down here, really dark too. The office light is on, first time in a while. I really don't think summer will recover now, maybe the odd spell here and there.
  8. Did I sleep for 3 months? Another stinker of a day. Not surprised any more. Just back from 3 days in south Wales and it wasn't much better. Very wet, very windy, and quite cool at times.
  9. Just about where I like my summers in terms of temps! My pale skin doesn't cope with anything hotter. Clouded over now but it's been a lovely day so far. Felt like a treat!
  10. Not a bad morning here, cloudy with the sun trying to break through.
  11. Few spits of rain here now, very dull and dark. Just been out and the car says 16 deg, although I'm sure that's far from accurate.
  12. A very average morning here. Looks like this high pressure is taking it's time, which it at least a slightly promising sign for the first part of the weekend. Although it looks like Sunday onwards is a disaster, worse than what is was yesterday.
  13. That's a real drop in pressure from models a couple of days ago. I'm going for a repeat of Saturday.
  14. Oof, south Wales forecast has just ramped up to some proper rain on Saturday and Sunday now. Not going to be much fun on two wheels Just had a nice walk with the dog, turned into a nice evening here.
  15. I'm just praying that the high pressure later this week puts up a better fight and keeps the rain away on Saturday. On the model discussion thread there seems to be whiffs of better weather at the end of this month, but I'll believe it when I actually see it. Looking forward to these few days of summer weather coming up though.
  16. @Chris.R Thanks for that. That does explain the straffing showers we get here often. Since moving here from south Manchester is feels like we are more in the line of fire for rain at times. Clouded over here at lunch and some moody clouds are gathering.
  17. Enjoy Belfast, my home town Galway is great, too. What is this Cheshire gap that people keep mentioning? I assume it has quite a big influence on the weather around this part of the world?
  18. Nice and sunny here, for now. I'm off to south Wales on Friday until Sunday. Not looking good for me, certainly on the Saturday. Hopefully the split is further north that currently forecast.
  19. That's the one day I really would like it to be dry. Anything but rain! @rwtwm Thank you very much for the explanation, makes sense. I'll hang on to the hope that Saturday will fair better than the current models suggest.
  20. About the same here over in Congleton. Still feels like Oct/Nov to me, but at least there are signs of blue sky.
  21. Just when I need one dry weekend in south Wales next weekend, it looks like I have another washout on my hands. Brightened up a touch now, but showers rolling through.
  22. Finding these model discussions really interesting. Very much a beginner here What confidence is generally accepted when looking 5 days out? I guess like many, I look towards the weekends to see what is coming up.
  23. Hi all, very first post for me. Moderate rain here this morning, since the early hours. No signs of it easing anytime soon. Can't remember the last dry weekend here since June.
