  1. Record warmth in Spain in January is all well and good but let's hope that doesn't translate to record heat this summer. That could have severe consequences for Spain, and maybe for us if any heat were to move north.
  2. @lassie23 Yep, and that has happened all too often when cold is forecast. Funny hiw it never seems to happen when the milder weather is being forecast though.
  3. It's dry out there at least but I do wonder if we'll see any more cold this winter. The MetO backtracking on the February cold spell is certainly bad news for coldies.
  4. I agree 100%. It's one thing when folk say "I prefer the hot weather and hate cold" but when people come in with an "I like hot weather and here's why you should too" that really gets my goat.
  5. I don't care about it being cold or mild or whatnot, I just wish it would stay dry for a few days. Everything's sodden out there!
  6. I'm seriously thinking of emigrating from this miserable, rain-soaked sh*thole of a country. Awful, seasonless weather, lousy quality of life, shabby towns and cities and bland countryside. Hope to get away within a decade or so.
  7. They're still talking about the chances of an SSD but I only skipped through the posts, too much hopecasting and I don't want to get my hopes up.
  8. Atlantic dross for the foreseeable future, even the EC46 which was predicting an erosion of the Iberian heights by mid-January is now putting that back to the end of Jan so that glimmer of hope has been snatched away. I may as well give up on seeing any more cold this winter. The writing's on the wall.
  9. I'm pretty sure more records wil tumble in 2024, especially those relating to heat.
  10. You've got to laugh at the Met Office write-up for the run into Christmas: "a mix of weather". :D. Sure, if wind and rain, rain amd wind, gales and drizzle is your idea of a "mix".
  11. Even tbe charts are uninteresting. No deep lows, just flat, straight westerlies overtopping the high to our south. Imagine if it stayed like this all winter... :/
  12. The GFS 12z is now starting to roll out on Wetterzentrale. I wonder if there's any hope of a shift to cold at all?
  13. This is probably the new normal, thanks to climate change.
  14. No thanks, we've got the entirety of summer as well as much of spring and autumn for that. I don't particulaely want spring in December, especially when we'll probably be getting that in February.
  15. I give up with this country's winters. Like I predicted yesterday, this winter will be mild, wet dross with any cold limited to brief interludes. If it wasn't for the shorter daylight hours "winter" in much of the UK could easily pass for an extended autumn or early spring.
  16. I'm calling it now: this winter will be primarily Atlantic-driven, with only very rare, brief colder interludes. Storms are likely with potential for damaging winds and flooding in many areas. This will be the trend even in the face of any model output that will, inevitably output cold and blocked weather (always within the 240+ hour timeframe). Spring will effectively be underway by late February, with one last cold snap later on (Aptil, probably). The Great British Weather, everybody!
  17. Yes, Darren Bett and his mild Atlantic air are the bain of winter for me. Hate that bloke.
  18. Very seasonal out there today for December 1st - frost on the ground all day where the Sun hasn't got to it, clear, calm and now we have thick fog too.
  19. I wonder if there's any risk of the midlands being affected by these winds. Certainly some (albeit a minority) of GFS members would be devastating more widely across England if they were to verify.
  20. The Arpege 18z has adjusted the low southwards a little, compared to the 12z run. It seems, to my uneducated eye at least there is now difference between European and American models, with the Euros taking it further south compared to their N American counterparts.
  21. When is it not milder than average nowadays? Trying to get any colder than average weather is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
  22. Very mild again out there and the humidity is relentless. I must admit I'm looking forward to next week's weather which should bring a fresher feel and some dryness.
  23. It's very humid out there at the moment, almost subtropical even. Even with the breeze it feels quite warm.
