I'll never understand why people join a weather enthusiast's forum and then whinge about people following the models in the other thread or about potential weather that is actually interesting and not the grey, miserable rubbish we have had for pretty much all of the winter (and much of the Autumn) so far. Enough of the guilt-tripping and saying how cold weather isn't good for people. People have preferences that are different. Deal with it. Not to mention, the same people will be whinging in summer when the models don't show the weather they desire or if  anyone dare show any other preference to them. Its ridiculous.

I agree 100%. It's one thing when folk say "I prefer the hot weather and hate cold" but when people come in with an "I like hot weather and here's why you should too" that really gets my goat.

I'd prefer that (Malaga's forecast, around 17-18 and sunny every day) than what we're getting here.

If we're not going to get proper winter (snow, frost) we may as well go abroad for some warm sunshine and proper daylight.

No thanks, we've got the entirety of summer as well as much of spring and autumn for that.  I don't particulaely want spring in December, especially when we'll probably be getting that in February.

  3. I give up with this country's winters.  Like I predicted yesterday, this winter will be mild, wet dross with any cold limited to brief interludes.  If it wasn't for the shorter daylight hours "winter" in much of the UK could easily pass for an extended autumn or early spring.

  4. I'm calling it now: this winter will be primarily Atlantic-driven, with only very rare, brief colder interludes.  Storms are likely with potential for damaging winds and flooding in many areas.  This will be the trend even in the face of any model output that will, inevitably output cold and blocked weather (always within the 240+ hour timeframe).

Spring will effectively be underway by late February, with one last cold snap later on (Aptil, probably).

The Great British Weather, everybody! 🫠

Agree completely. I find that most of the BBC presenters are annoying in one form or another. Currently my worst 2 are Darren Bett, mild lover and Louise Lear who I believe gets dressed in the dark!

Yes, Darren Bett and his mild Atlantic air are the bain of winter for me.  Hate that bloke.

I never really tend to track windstorms, but here seems an exception. I'm kind of excited to see what happens. Looks concerning for the channel islands. On windy.com (UKV mostly) seeing gusts up to 100 or 105mph.

I'm calling it now - Tomorrow the Met will release an amber warning for the south coast. They tend to hold fire on red warnings, so who knows what will happen then.

All depends on tomorrow's observstions, i guess!

I wonder if there's any risk of the midlands being affected by these winds.  Certainly some (albeit a minority) of GFS members would be devastating more widely across England if they were to verify.

  7. The Arpege 18z has adjusted the low southwards a little, compared to the 12z run.

It seems, to my uneducated eye at least there is now difference between European and American models, with the Euros taking it further south compared to their N American counterparts.

Pretty strong agreement across the models for milder than average there! Thankfully the signals for wetter than average seem to have dropped.

When is it not milder than average nowadays?  Trying to get any colder than average weather is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
