mate in oswestry sent me a piccie showing 13 inches there
-
When was the last time there was 40cm in Shrewsbury I wonder? Seen some pics of town in 63, only looks like 30cm at most. I reckon it's not happened since the Little Ice Age.
well I remember walking back from meole brace school back to belle vue through drifts up to 6 feet at the back of the playing fields there so that would of of been 1982 ish ?..don't remember how deep the snow itself was just the drifting

Heading off to Oswestry soon to have a look take some pics, might come back via Elsmere just to see 40cm.
do it..... I bet there's even more more on top of the racecourse though absolute shed loads
-
4cm here, how the hell can Ellesmere have 23 it isnt any higher! And Crewe apparently has none at all...
for the same reason that Oswestry just 6 mile away has 40cm to our 23cm lol just the way it goes
-
40cm? That's impressive. I think the tv stations should send reporters to places like that. They always seem to send them to places, where they stand there saying how bad it is, but it usually looks as though there isn't much snow there!
I agree ...Oswestry is only 6 mile away as well ......ewe rams

just been out and measured 23 cm's and still snowing
-
-
wow haven't measured but looks a good dumping

Heavy snow here again now...
Crossover from Welsh thread - I'm in the Ceiriog Valley where we have over a foot of snow, not seen it like this since I used to live in Hognaston in the early '80s and used to walk into Wirksworth or Ashbourne for supplies! I remember then that an early Shrovetide used to followed, sometimes, by blazing hot sunshine for Easter and then snow for Flash point to point (or poss other way round).
Was a bit worried for me mam in Hoggy, but phoned her and she and neighbour have tottered down to the Red Lion for "Ladies who Lunch", so she'll be fine!
same as chirk ..they have about 8-10 inches we are just across the border near Ellesmere and have roughly 4 inches with lots more to come :-)

Guys Gavin has done an excellent video in weather two in the snow reports section , it gives us a very detailed look at what to expect later today and into tomorrow , I have watched his videos for a long time and have lots of respect for him , and I strongly suggest if you doubt the midlands getting buried that you watch his video , we will get battered later guys trust me
Is there a link to it cheers... I'm taking the 2nd part of my level 1 FA coaching course tomorrow at Shrewsbury so need to know how badly affected its likely to be because its all practical outside training sessions
-
Continual heavy snow since 5pm never seen anything like it!! (Oswestry)
Crazy ain't it ..I'm just a couple of miles away in Ellesmere :-))
-
Looks to be coming in during the afternoon. Perhaps a brief period of snow in the E and over the hills but quickly turning to rain.
