  1. Heavy rain started about 16:00 with a few flashes and rumbles, wasn't that close though. That cleared away and I think theres something else lurking in the south, I can hear the occasional rumble.
  2. That was an amazing storm Easily the best this year with plenty of lightning, thunder and heavy rain. My photos are here http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=32675
  3. I had no idea there was a lunar eclipse tonight. Coincidentally I took some pics of the moon just because it was orange, I thought to shaded bit was cloud If I had know it was a lunar eclipse I would have had the tripod out and got better pics but here's one I took:
  4. Initial winter thoughts from TWO: The autumn forecast we issued took into account historic weather patterns to give an indication of what may happen this year. When this was produced we took the results further forward to see what they suggested the weather could be like this winter. Whilst there was no bias towards any particular weather type in December, the results for January suggested the possibility of a cold or very cold month, and for February the possibility of mild conditions. Our winter forecast will be issued in late November, and the actual weather patterns which develop during the autumn period will have a big influence on it. Here we are in September and TWO are trying to forecast out to February . Surely this is total guess work and if it happened would just be pure luck. Here's their thoughts in full: http://theweatheroutlook.com/twocommunity/...er/default.aspx Look at the 3rd chart down on the link. Looks like they've pulled that from way into FI on a so called drunken 18z run 935mb LP
  5. I think we should all have our own small wind turbines either in our gardens or on the roofs of our houses. A couple of examples: Seems a much better solution to me
  6. Yep, I agree people use central heating far too much. In our house it's only on about 4 hours a day in winter and never in summer. I even went the whole of last winter without heating in my bedroom, not to save the environment though, the radiator was jammed
  7. Well done John, Superb photo  The others were also excellent, well done everyone. I look forward to seeing Johns photo in the 2007 calendar.
  8. I cannot see the problem with wind turbines. These are the two about 1 mile from me http://www.kevanjonesmp.org.uk/main/galler...%2FIMG_0332.jpg I think they look nice, much better than most things us humans have spoilt the countryside with.
  9. Probably the best set of photos i've seenon here, it was a very hard choice but I have decided to vote for Johns photo in the end, so peacfull and relaxing and I will look forward to that on the calendar next year OON's was my second favourite, also a lovely shot. He's behind at the minute, I wonder if there will be an influx of new members soon?
  10. I've seen snow close enough to make out the snowflakes falling but never snowed on me. It was about 200m away I think.
  11. Started about 09:00 with heavy rain, then started hearing thunder, then some sheet lightning. One was pretty close, thunder took about 3 seconds to get here. Seen about 5 flashes all together and probably about 10 - 15 rumbles
  12. Heres 2 of mine from last week also posted in the photography section: (800 x 600 pixels) 1. 2. Mark.
  13. Grey, damp and drizzly all day, sometimes heavy. Currently quite foggy but drizzle has stopped.
  14. Cloudy, grey, breezy and chilly. Only 16°C in my room. Electric Blanket tonight maybe
  15. To put it simply: Bright, breezy and a bit chilly today.
  16. Some amazing photos this month It was a hard choice but here's my 5: (In no particular order) Rustynailer 1 OON 1 Mr_S 1 John Cox 1 Anvil Crawler 2 Anvil Crawler 1 and 2 are exactly the same photos so you might want to delete one or merge the votes
  17. Cool and rainy, possibly in for the day now MetOffice have a weather warning out for us up here and eastern Scotland. http://www.met-office.gov.uk/weather/europe/uk/warnings.html According to the BBC TV forecast winds could gust up to 50mph in North East England later
  18. Tried that site, some nasty moths on there This being one of the worst http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=798
  19. Seen 1 flash and heard quite a few rumbles of thunder. It's wan't overhead probably about 10 miles east but still the best yet this year.
  20. Already been some storms over Northern England today, possibly more to come. Please post any reports here...
  21. Thats sad, why would anyone want to do that? Even if it went unnoticed and the photo won it wouldn't make you feel good would it? 12 new members in just over 2 hours, that is unusually high I am please it was noticed and appropriate action has been taken Well done Shuggee, a deserved win
  22. Just been sitting outside for the last hour and it's a lovely cool calm and clear evening, perfect for sitting outside and watching the bats. All it needed was some distant rumbles of thunder, that would have been perfect.
  23. Mostly clear and still very muggy and sticky here. Don't know how I will get to sleep
