  1. I hate them! My fear started with just spiders but now it's moths, bluebottles etc. I don't know why but i'm getting worse. I cannot go to bed without making sure there is no moths or spiders visible in my room and I have a bottle of spray at hand to kill them. I'm not ashamed to admit my silly fears
  2. I voted for Cloudburst, very nice picture. I would have voted for Shuggee but the lens flare distracts me a bit, still nice though, as were the other pictures
  3. None of them are very accurate. Probably the best one is the Netweather one but there is a delay to see the data. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=sferics;sess= The StrikeAlert personal lightning detector is pretty good at detecting strikes within 40 miles.
  4. Some rumbles and light rain around 5:30 then a big 10 min downpour about 15 mins ago.
  5. Could be some severe storms for some today Post your reports here...
  6. Same here in Stanley and feeling a lot cooler. Cannot understand why the 10:35 BBC weather said an uncomfortable night "especially for North East England"
  7. I've seen that plenty up here. All the storms disintegrate as they get up here... very frustrating as PersianPaladin will tell you!
  8. Sorry I know this is being picky but the description under the Storms and Extreme weather section is out of date! It says: "Into mid winter now, usually at least once during January a period of atlantic type weather affects the UK, will this year see any intense atlantic storms heading toward the UK?"
  9. Not that localised PP!, Just had the same here at work in washington. A massive cloudburst lasting about 10-15 mins with massive drops. I haven't seen rain like that for a long time. No thunder heard but still exciting! A very nice fresh smell of rain now. Mark.
  10. Essan gets my vote when I consider which I would most like on my wall for a month Like John Cox's photo and Wib's, all would look good in a calendar. A high standard as usual.
  11. We all start somewhere! GFS = Global Forcasting System This link has some informaton about all types of forecasting models and should be helpful to you http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=3147 Mark.
  12. I've just taken a few stills from you video Steve just capturing the lightning. Hope you don't mind: Could there be another tornado in the first pic? The lightning seems to highlight a funnel shape. Again, hope you don't mind and great video Steve B)
  13. Just a reminder this book is still on ebay for another 5 mins. It could sell for just £1.99. RRP £7.95. Grab a bargain!. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  14. Just got an e-mail from SpaceWeather.com about this: STRANGE CLOUDS; Last night, sky watchers in Northern Ireland witnessed a vivid display of electric-blue noctilucent clouds. Also known as "NLCs," these clouds float through the outer reaches of Earth's atmosphere at the very edge of space. They are most often seen from far-northern places such as Scandinavia or Canada, but in recent years they have been spotted as far south as Colorado and Utah. Last night's display marks the beginning of the 2006 noctilucent cloud season. Visit http://spaceweather.com for observing tips and a gallery of recent sightings.
  15. I have been in cars with factory fitted thermometers and they seem accurate to me. Maybe a cheap one like mine may not be so accurate Still the in car temp should be OK
  16. Looking for a bit of advice. I've just bought a inside/outside car thermometer with a cabled sensor. Can anyone recommend where I should stick it (careful now ) I really have now idea so any advice would be great. Thanks, Mark.
  17. Seems like nothings happening. Just normal blackness here and the webcams which are usually good are showing nothing in the way of colours http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe...bcam/index.html Well, off to bed, I waited up for nothing
  18. Anyone see anything yet? This webcam is a good place to see the northern lights, just waiting for it to get darker http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe...muir/index.html
  19. Heres a pic I took last year when the full moon was low on 23/06.
  20. Look out for the northern lights tonight. BBC local weather forecast said increased chance of seeing it tonight in northern england. Also got a red alert e-mail from http://www.dcs.lancs.ac.uk/iono/aurorawatch/.
  21. Thats just passed me here in Stanley. Lasted about 15mins with heavy rain and some hail. No thunder.
