  1. Just cannot get over how fresh and green everything looks over here in the ☀. Just arrived from the Austrian Alps where there was no sign of spring. Just dull and not much sign of things turning green just yet. You know what , this country cannot be beaten when the sun shines, especially when visiting the pub or watching a bIt of cricket ! Great afternoon watching the football. Leeds are going down ! Glad Forest stayed up. The club and fans showed loyality to the manager through the ups and downs of the season. C C
  2. Looks like Cheshire Plain todays UK hotspot. Not for the first time. Ideal synoptics for most of the region. C
  3. Top 3 . Brilliant NW, Europes new heat dome ! Same here in Skipton, pub beer gardens full. Skipton in North Yorks but really in Northwest England. C
  4. 1 would say this is a dream chart for the NW England. Think I have picked a good couple of weeks stay.. C
  5. Right on cue. FRA-MAN the sun shines. West is Best. Heading into Skipton Town for a few Tim Taylors and Littons Pale, C
  6. Funny enough , I draw lucky when visiting back to the old country. The sun always shines ! My connections in Horsham tell me its been bad down there compared to up North ! Glad to see Macc Towns progress back towards the high levels of English football. Love the country pubs in your part of the world + plus looking forward to a visit to a Fish and chip shop,Chinese Takeway ( English Style ) and a decent Pie shop. None of these exists in Austria , but I suppose the guarantee is snow out here and that is my ultimate passion !! C
  7. The miserable May weather continues in these parts this morning. No sun for 5 days. Relentless low cloud and rain. Cold as well. Current temp 1.8c and reports of heavy snowfall and deep cover at 2000m level. Reluctantly, heating turned up ! Looking forward now to a visit to the UK to find some sunshine and a bit of warmth ? C
  8. Guess what ? Its raining none stop. Temp this morning 1.8c. Reports of 30cm of fresh snow above the village currently. Freezing level 2000m. Think I will book a flight to MAN and get away from this relentless cold . C
  9. The horrible May weather continues in the Eastern Alps, rain for the past 3 days none stop. Damn cold too. Max today 4c ! Sod the cost of heating, had to put it back on again , reluctantly. I am frozen sat here ! Still a lot of snow patches remain in the village and heavy snow still falling on the higher bergs this afternoon. Looking forward to a trip back to Blighty very soon and visit some to my favourite pubs in The NW and sample some mighty fine ales and watch a bit of cricket. Just hope those temps rise a bit when I arrive. C
  10. 21c already at 8am in Vancouver today. Its going to be a hot one. Back in the Austrian Alps , a miserable 5 c this afternoon with persistent rain and low cloud setting in. Snow falling at 2000m and above. Looks Like British Columbia is the place to be if you want some sunny warm weather at the moment. C
  11. Yep, been watching that. An amazing come back. Good if they could hold onto the manager for the coming season ? Hope the Foxes and The Forest stay up. Some big games coming up thick and fast. Great if City can do one on cocky Real Madrid for a change ! C
  12. Yes, generally it is. We can get snow at 1000m anytime of the year. However, this May has been consistently cloudy ☁ and generally cold with minimum spikes in the daily temps. Possibly the lowest snow line I have seen over here ( from 2005 ) for Mid - May. Really fed up with this month. Trying hard to keep the thermostat down to save a few Euros ! C
  13. Just watched the football highlights. Sunny cloudless Manchester yesterday and dull overcast Chelsea ! Lets hope the NW continues in that way for you lot. I must say, everything getting exciting in the relegation zone battle. Glad I have Sky Sport as over TV here is rubbish. Hope Leeds go down ! C
  14. Looks Like Vancouver will smash its daily record for May today. Some really hot spells over the past few years and its still spring ! Nearby Abbotsford could reach 31c inland. Meanwhile back in the Austrian Alps another miserable May morning dawns. Again single digit max expected. The snow cover continues in abundance above 1500m. Reports of heavy snow cover in the higher Bavarian Alps but not as bad as May 1965 ! Umm , thats food for thought. C
  15. My son informs me that 28c is expected today in Vancouver with a 3 day heatwave forecast. My daughter is currently having a B/Q in the Stockholm where the temp is 22c. My cricket friends in Cheshire report sunny skies and temp close to 20c. Here in the Austrian Alps , a miserable 9C with a slow thaw in progress at 1350m absl. C
  16. Looks like NW England todays top spot in England. 19c just reached south of Manchester Airport. 21c nearly in the Highlands of Scotland. C
  17. Dramatic pictures taken today of exit avalanche cutting through the road tunnel that leads to The Pitztal Glacier.Awesome power. C
  18. The on going chill continues in the Eastern Alps. Looks like being the coldest and most sunless April for sometime. I think the mean temp for April could be lower than for March here at 1350m absl. Even though the ski-ing season finished in the village on Sunday , there is still over a metre of snow in places and all parts remain covered in a thick carpet of snow. The max temp recorded in the past 5 days is only 2.6c. The chart below would indicate some of this cold dross heading your way during the week. I think at this stage is a matter of how far north it affects the British Isles. Could be subject to change but the medium term models not looking good for any much needed warmth for the whole of Euroland/UK. Think , flights to Spain are on my agenda soon !
  19. Well thats the end of the ski-ing season over here. Lifts packed away. So much snow still. Think I have never seen so much to end the season. Current freezing level 1400m. Nearby high orbital resort Obertauern will stay open until the end of the month. So I time to sign off until the start of the next season and hopefully in the meanwhile find some warm ☀ . Best of British to all ski and snow nuts ! C
  20. Morning all. Yes, another April morning and still it snows. Waist deep now. Love snow but not in Mid- Spring. Longing for some warmth and ☀ just like you lot back home. Hopefully, some of you, especially in the North and West of the British Isles will see an improvement from today . Unfortunately, the cold looks like lasting in these parts for much of next week. Think a Spanish trip beckons soon ! C
  21. April 14th, still it snows. Think I have seen enough now. Warm sunshine would be very welcome ! C
  22. Still it snows over here. I must admit , I am getting fed up of this April cold now. Like you lot , some warm sunshine would be most welcome. Looks like the NW has had a wet day again. hopefully things should warm up and get drier from Sunday. Think the cold ❄ will persist a bit longer into next week over in the Austrian Alps though before a warm up beckons. C
  23. Still it snows. Looks like being one of the heaviest April snowfalls in many a year. The resort now stays open for another week ! C
  24. Morning all from a very snowy Salzburgerland Alps. Yep, 60 cm of fresh snowfall here today. Looks like the Southlanders are starting to moan about the prospect of a rather chilly easterly setting in next week down there. Hopefully, you guys in the NW will hit the sweet spot in the ☀ and higher temps stakes during the weather developments early next week. C
  25. Morning all. Snowing like crazy at the moment. Deep powder above 1500m with a 60 cm fresh expected today. Many resorts closed for business last Sunday but some now deciding to open until 16th April. Nearby high resort of Obertauern now confident of keeping the lifts going right to the end of the month. Such is the expert preparations in maintaining pistes these days a long season is becoming the norm at higher altitudes due to the increased snow mass associated with higher winter temps ! One mans loss is one mans gain, so it seems. C
