  1. On my yearly trips back to blighty this is one thing I notice more and more of those horrible linear new housing estates popping up on once green fields and woodlands. Just to many folk to cram in ! C
  2. 25c at 08z both in Manchester and Ibiza. The new Manchester is blue skies and C
  3. Just seen Manchester Airport recording 21c at 7 am. Top of the charts as well as the football world. C
  4. Morning. Watched the live lightning monitor yesterday evening over your region. How was it ? Hit and miss ? C
  5. Nearly a week on. Think, maybe many parts of your region still rain free at the moment ? See the storms pushed across West Cheshire yesterday . Looking at todays reading, could feel warmest day of the year with Manchester heading towards 30c . Also that wind should have now abated somewhat. See what develops this afternoon ? Will be watching carefully out here in Ibiza where the weather I am glad to say has warmed up appreciably over the past few days. Maybe good BQ conditions for you Northwesterners ! C
  6. Um, just think of those many depressing days of low cloud , constant dampness and winds streaming from the Atlantic, especially when the south was basking in warm continental ☀. I would say enjoy the current super conditions a wee bit long up in your part of the world. The rain will come back sometime but how soon is the question ? UKMO latest looks like only showing sporadic rainfall with the core high in still quite a favourable position for the NW . I suppose warm rain is better than cold rain if it eventually arrives ? C
  7. GFS continues to churn out wonderful summer charts for the NW. Wonder if this is going to be a vintage one you lot ? If so well deserved. As the Green Day song goes.."Wake me up when September ends.." c
  8. Marvellous to see. The area seems top notch again today looking at the latest readings. Seems to be some cooler conditions currently moving SW across Central Southern areas. West is defo best in this prolonged dry set up. C
  9. Currently 26c out in Ibiza. Feels more sultry. Some big tops appearing out west across from San Antonio Bay towards Benidorm/ Denia on the mainland. Think may see a good light show towards dusk. Looks like NW England soon to regain the English hot spot this afternoon and rightly so. The new Riviera ! Rock on Keswick and Manchester. C
  10. 23 c in Ibiza, feels a bit chilly. Think its going to warm up a notch this coming week. Looks like NW England reached a nice 21c widely today. For once Keswick relegated out of the top 20 ! Last week Shannon in Western Ireland one of the hot spots of Western Europe. Again reached 25c today . Thats tropical. Enjoy your sunshine up north . C
  11. Crosby, todays top hotspot in the UK. Currently 21.8c . Same temp as Ibiza , where I am heading on Sunday 1 C
  12. NW region again Englands hot spot. Top 6 locations from Keswick to Chester . The new " Sunshine State "! Nice and sunny also in Sussex but wind makes it feel cold and sweaters are order of the day. C
  13. This current 500mb chart shows a similar pressure pattern that has been predominant for some time both across NE Canada and The British Isles with the Atlantic fairly dormant. Strong NE ly winds and low humidity is causing widespread wild fires , especially in Nova Scotia. It may also just be a matter of a few more days before we could get similar fires across parts of The British Isles, especially now after a 2 week dry spell or more for most. Low humidity in the atmosphere likely to also be a catalyst for this to occur. Post 10 days , the GFS showing a change to wetter mid-June conditions across most of the Kingdom, however, ECM keeps the status quo out at that time. C
  14. 10c here in Horsham. John , I will be really glad to get back to the Austrian Alps ! as I have felt colder here in Sussex than at any time this past winter season . I sure hate that wind off the North Sea at this time of year. Glad I am not playing cricket in Wetwang ! C
  15. Cloud much more broken this morning in Sussex. Still chilly in the wind though. Seems Cumbria the place to be to see Springtime out ! More the same to come ? C
  16. Yep, not really that unusual synoptics. However, looks like continuing into early June. How long will it last ? Looking at the first 5 months of this year, UK high has been quite a dominate force just mostly anchored to the west. Those in the SE longing for it to migrate east. Locals down in Sussex really getting fed up with the persistent and longevity of the cool NEly breeze. Back at home in the Eastern Alps , snow still lying in the village at 1340m and looks like still to be there on June 1st ! Hoping my trip to Ibiza next week provides me of some much needed warmth. Thundery it may be down there but athe possibility of temps in 70s is a most appealing thought! C
  17. Frozen Southeast. Gusty wind and max of 14c in Horsham. Will be glad to get away from this wind. Not one place in the top 20 for the southeast apart from Bournemouth ( which is not really SE ) See Cumbria doing well again in the sunshine and temp stakes. C
  18. Top temp in Horsham 15c this afternoon. I note NW counties were todays top spot in England. Close to reaching 21 c in Cumbria and West Lancs. 1 week stay in Sussex before trip to Ibiza where it has also been on the chill side . Hope it warms up soon. Enjoy your nice weather back in the sun belt! C
  19. Arrived in Sussex and frozen in that wind. The Northwest in comparison is a heat and sun trap haven. Stay north ! C
  20. Leaving a sunny Skipton today and heading to Blackpool for the evening and than tracking south to Horsham on Sunday. Looks like Northern England primed for the UK warm spot today in the centre of the high pressure wedge. Looking forward to fish and chips tonight and a few jars . C
  21. Not a bad day in Skipton. Sunshine and a bit of cloud cover. A couple of more days in the South Dales and then head to Blackpool for the weekend. Next week head down back to Sussex and watch a couple of cricket matches ( Horsham CC.) and at county ground in Hove. Just hope the weather keeps fine and those NEly disapear away from the SE. Following on, a routine trip to Ibiza to get my sunshine fix and then back to Salzburgerland for some home repair jobs waiting. Its always nice to come back for a visit to blighty. C
  22. Agree. Atmospheric changes impacting weather patterns around the British Isles later this summer is nay impossible to predict this far out. In the meanwhile the latest medium span models maintain the status quo, which really is not too bad for much of the UK. No heatwave but rather nice temperatures. C
  23. Back in the UK for a few weeks. Quite nice few days in the NW England. Dry , so that in itself is good. Not especially warm but pleasantly nice. Just looking at the synoptics for most of this year which seem to have the UK high regularly centred just to the west for the most part. Never really tapping into real cold during the winter months and now as we head to high summer, never really tapping into real warmth and that applies to much of Euro land as well. So the models continue to show much the same with the British Isles probably doing ok, which is fine and temperate for the most part rather than unsettled and temperate. I know which I prefer ! C
  24. Yep, started sunny in Skipton but quite heavy cloud cover now and certainly feels cooler than yesterday. Not one NW location in todays top 20 . Yesterday had top 3 spots. Weather always has away of kicking you in the teeth. At least the wind is light so not feeling too bad. Saw the showers clouds building to the south and heading towards the high peak. C
