  1. North Easterly breeze picking up in Romford, come on, its just down the road!
  2. Good afternoon from Romford land. Its all gone very grey here, broken stratus overhead moving from the East rapidly, the band is taking oh so long to get here, we've already had a few snow showers this morning. The gulls have also come in land and are going mad, always a sign of approaching bad weather.
  3. Suprise light snow falling in Romford, we had a bit of a dusting of powder yesterday too.
  4. Fear not those of you South of the river! Here in Romford I've got very heavy snow now with great big flakes, heading your way.
  5. Great big flakes now. Unfortunately lacking the wind to blow it around like Friday night, where is drifed on my window sill.
  6. Strong line approaching, waiting for the show to start here. We've still go virtually all the snow from Friday, and its about to get majorly topped up, the sky has gone rather orange. Any moment now, lamp post watching. EDIT: Sleet started, radar suggests its all going to get a lot bigger very soon.
  7. Good afternoon. Snowed almost all night but today has been sunny, everythings further east today but I can see cloud tops on the NEastern horizon. Next to no melting.
  8. Interesting read, this storm woke me up as it was leaving, thunder was pretty frequent and at first I thought it was the wind, the rain was pretty impressive too, and very dark especially towards the South East. I would've had a better view but I just moved to a room with a north facing window. The anvil as the cells cleared was very impressive too.
  9. Still cant believe I slept through that one. For me it has to be the January 2004 snowstorm, watching light rain turn to horizontal snow in a matter of seconds, with visibility reducing to nothing just as quick. It was amazing as it hit, big black clouds hanging overhead, I was dissapointed that the previous nights snow was melting to nothing, then this squall line creeps up behind me while I'm watching from my South facing window. Summer of 2007 too, never seen so much rain.
  10. Light rain here and very infrequent distant sheet flashing to my South, haven't seen any in a while. Its going to run my little town right over if it comes.
  11. Its still getting going down Biggin Hill way on radar, and not moving much, on a clearer night I might get a look, I hate this weather, can't see for dust. Ultra headache and distant sheet flashes spotted to my South.
  12. Theres a storm out there somewhere, but its hiding in the mist. Visibilty is awful and has been pretty nasty all day.
  13. Cloudy, hazy and extremely muggy, cell very close by to my S and I'm looking out for lightning but none seen yet.
  14. From what I heard today looked pretty marginal and the sun setting earlier than in summer has killed off things just as they started getting going.
  15. Evening, very hazy and humid and now I have quite a lot of dark and substantial cumulus to my West.
  16. I remember that, could see the cloud tops from Brighton as we were heading North, amazing structure, all hell broke lose when we got close to Gatwick airport, traffic was down to 30mph on the motorway with bolts either side of the road.
  17. Great shots there, I went back in '05, you have to have steel nads to gun a drag bike between unprotected lamp posts at 160mph. What did you used to compete with?
  18. Goood evening ladies and gents... Weak storm with a gust front and whales mouth feature shoving through here, actually maybe so wea as the winds are mental and the rain is tropical!!! Am getting slammed here by one hack of a gust front, the structure isn't that spectacular but the conditions are! Very little in the way of thunder, the main core is passing off to my NE.
  19. I consider thundery rain to be any rain that is the result of convective activity. However, thunderstorms are a different matter, for a thunderstorm to be a thunderstorm, it has to be capable of producing lightning, otherwise its just a convective cell, I can't understand why anyone would think different on that.
  20. The low level winds have strengthened and gone Westerly here ahead of the cold front, but its still clear here.
  21. Westerly change has moved through, replacing the mid level instability with clearer skies and a lot of low level cumulus, not looking good for storms.
  22. I'm afraid to me it just looks like a repeat of Thursday.
  23. Westerly change just shoved through here a bit sooner than I expected, its amazing how it can go from humid and hazy with AltCas to cool and breezy with low cloud in such a short time. Not looking good for storms, until tomorrow when low pressure may bring plenty.
  24. Looking at radar, sat and out my window, I would guess there are a few shortwave troughs/ disturbances in the area, incredible AltCas displays and signs of something more substantial in the distance to my South, its going to be close as to wether it'll be any good or not (rather like my results), as the cold front is making rapid progress.
