  1. Welcome to the board Beverley Lass It's a great first post - hope to see more of your pics in the competitions or photography section
  2. Lenticular Cloud: 23 December 05, Milnathort, Kinrosshire.
  3. Wave Cloud, 23 December 05, Milnathort, Kinrosshire.
  4. Welcome back! Sometimes when we think we know it all the Earth (and Moon) can throw a surprise at us.
  5. We had a few flurries of snow this afternoon at Milnathort, Kinrosshire. Temp was 2C so it didn't last long on the ground. Wind is bitter, think we could have some more overnight. Edit: pic in Photography
  6. I've no personal experience of this tree but this may help Plants for a Future "This species is not very cold hardy and is only likely to succeed outdoors in the very mildest parts of Britain. It tolerates temperatures down to at least -7°c in Australian gardens[157] but this cannot be translated directly to British gardens because of our cooler summers and longer colder and wetter winters. " RHS A-Z lists it as half hardy to frost tender evergreen. I would be inclined to keep it indoors in a light airy position away from direct heat where it won't dry out too much and wait and see what happens. Keep moist but not waterlogged and don't feed untill it starts to put on some growth. Providing the rootball and trunk didn't get too badly frosted it may recover. It's a pretty looking tree and it would be a shame to give up on it just yet. If it does recover you can put it outside again once the danger of frost is over.
  7. Kp been flat as pancake for a day and a half now. Ah well, can't go on forever!

  9. Breaking Wave Path Head, Kirkcaldy, 4th. December 2005
  10. Space Weather "Sunspot 826 is growing quickly. Just yesterday it was a barely visible speck. Today it is a sprawling group of spots wider than the rings of Saturn. " See link for full item Hope this isn't another dud! (Worth keeping an eye on though! )
  11. Winter Sky. West Wemyss, 27th November 2005
  12. Beautiful pic Andy Brown Very creative with what you had available.
  13. Just looked outside. After the snow and sleet there is a layer of wet slush on the ground but the sky is now crystal clear and I would expect temperatures to plummet faster than 'Arold (baaa...) Mars is looking lovely in East and the evening twighlight always highlights its red colour. Venus is a brilliant white low in the West.
  14. Well, on topic: Cold northerly blowing, feels really bitter (maybe we've all gone soft these last few years) Had a heavy sleet shower about 9.30am but now it's bright, sunny and virtually cloudless. Temp on car thermometer says 7.0C - but I think it tells fibs!
  15. West Lomond 22nd. November 05 Belt of Venus 22nd. November 05
  16. Beautifull November morning! Bright and sunny. Very thin light high haze, making a blindingly bright otherwise cloudess sky. No wind to speak of, temp 4C.
  17. I use 15" monitor so I have to have my resolution set to 800x600 otherwise any text is too small. I try to remember to keep my pic widths to a max of 550 pixels (.jpg) which is about the maximum this board (and other boards) can take without having to scroll sideways. It's also kinder to folk still lumbered with a 56k dialup. Should they be needed I can supply full res. images or other sizes and formats for screen savers etc. . Just PM me, I do retain copyright however so no commercial use without explicit permission.
  18. Heee! If it can hold on until it rotates to face us we shoud be past full moon too. Maybe I'll finally get a chance to really put my camera through its paces.
  19. Grape vine in an unheated greenhouse refuses to go dormant and is still putting on new growth. Come on guys! This is Scotland, we're half way through November with only one light nip of frost so far.
  20. I see it's listed as an annual so pulling it out, breaking the sead pods and disturbing the soil will encourage new seedlings.
  21. Yep, had a look in on that this am. too. Site has been down for a few days but up and running again. Sun is blank again today but I've been rummaging about in some dusty pc files and found this pic taken with a borowed digi camera last year on (or round about) 9th. November. It was dry cold and freezing hard! What a difference
