This pretty much sums it up......even the "experts" can't call it!! http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1598498_snow-idea-met-office-forecasters-change-mind-for-third-time-and-reinstate-amber-snow-alert

Hey man,for once oldham gets less than us,I hope it perks up for you.
Aye.
Every dog has its day......so they say!! lol. Im not that downbeat coz still a good few cm covering in place since Monday, it would have been worse if we were completely snowless
-
Nothing here, just frustration........had a snizzle shower about 11am but thats it. Temp is -1.9oC. The one time Odham council is prepared, this happens, typical!!
-
This website is enough to give you a heart attack.......amber warnings, yellow warnings, no warnings, downgrades, upgrades.........we have a couple of cm of lying snow here which has been there since Monday, then we have had the light snow this pm which has covered all the gaps/ roads in. I think if we get any snow in this area tomorrow, it wont be until late afternoon/ into Saturday. Enjoy whatever you have & stay safe

I see the Welsh have heeded the advice to be prepared - the news showed the local Tesco stripped of all bread & milk etc....... at least our downgrade has spared us such scenes!
-
Seems like an upgrade from the doom & gloom of this morning........bbc weather showed snow from the midlands being blown up towards the Manchester region on very strong winds, so it might not be a total disaster.

Sledges....check! gloves and bobble hat.....check! bacon butties for dinner....check!...lets get the party started!

I wonder what "action" the brecon beacon community are doing right now in light of this update?
-
I'm not confident of any great amount of snow here now. The red warning for the Brecon Beacons area is a bit bizzare IMO, I find it hard to believe you can forecast such extreme events at this early stage for one localised region. I don't think Ive seen a red warning for snow in Scotland, but Ive seen one in Southern England a few years back and now this Welsh affair......Red should be flash warnings nearer the time

We are going to get lots of snow & blizzards on Friday.....I can't wait!

Big fat juicy snow here and a good covering building up ;o)
-
Currently -0.3oC here & dry......I'm a little surprised how little snow there has been in Scotland, it seems to be falling mainly as rain, so not sure if I should expect much here.....it still seems like a good few hours before we see anything here. Oldham Council have probably jinxed it, about 3 gritters with ploughing gear on have passed my house this morning, so for them to be so prepared means only one thing....it will be heavy rain all the way!!
-
Some nice snow on the traffic scotland cams north of Glasgow.... lucky swines!
-
Rain here since 10pm and thats at 1000ft asl.......nearest Ive seen lying snow is at Flash village which is some 600ft higher than here, quite a marginal event really
-
Much better today, thankfully! Was pretty bad yesterday...........see the link for OMRT, some good pictures of massive drifts http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150639121952742.386329.284885987741&type=3

Still coming down horizontally, and nice & white outside!!!
-
Been snowing here a good while, no covering on roads or pavements, patchy on other things, must be your extra 400ft that is doing the trick.
yes, theres a covering at Scouthead, hopefully more to come!!
-
Covering of snow here, pepped up around 10pm, really windy too!
-
Nice snowy scenes on traffic scotland cams, hope we get a covering later this evening......fingers crossed!

-
Very light rain here over past hour and temp -0.5oC

Sorry but some of these TV presenters should be stand up comedians...."it's started to snow really heavily here now"
