Looks as if we will get rain in the next 15 minutes or so,looking at the radar. I thought we were in for a hot, sunny day!
-
Has this summer been more breezy than usual? I'm sure we have had many more days of wind than usual in my area but perhaps it's just my imagination.
-
Looks like the rain is here to stay now. At least the garden is happy. Temp 18.9C.

Sadly no thunderstorms here last night.Don't think we had any rain either.
Temp 22C presently and feeling a bit fresher so far.
-
Overcast this morning.Temp 16.5C, slight breeze. Can still smell smoke in the air from the fire at Wareham which is at least 7 miles away from here.

Feeling worse today sadly. Tighter chest and under three duvets. Doubt I will be on here as much today.
The sensation of lack of breath is quite odd.
Really hoping you have a quick recovery. Sounds pretty scary the shortness of breath symptoms. Take care.

Is there any chart showing how many people are needing intensive care each day in the UK due to Covid19 ?

This is getting ridiculous. This is not a war. What next trenches and machine gun posts to stop strangers entering your community?
The reason we have these restrictions is because of the effect it has on the most vulnerable. Lets be clear if we didn't have flu vaccines we would be in this position every year. This virus has developed very quickly because we have an open world.
Lessons have not been learnt from Sars however we are already seeing promise for a vaccine based on the Sars pathogen. We not be able to vaccinate the whole world by next year but perhaps we will be able to vaccinate the most vulnerable.
What this tells us in an open world we should not go down an isolationist route but be open and work with all to achieve common goals
This does not only affect the vulnerable though. It has a knock on effect to the whole society.
Even if it is only the most vulnerable that are at risk from serious complications/death from the virus they will fill up the NHS capacity, and consequently there is not enough treatment for the usual patients, so they then become at risk and cannot get treatment. What about the A &E departments that already struggle and hospitals that do not have spare beds?

This all feels so surreal at the moment. Looking out the window the sun is shining and all appears normal, but apart from the weather that’s where ‘normal’ life ends at the moment. Hubby has a cold. 99.9% sure that is all, but he has had to stay off work. He works at the local leisure centre/ gym. Time will tell whether the work place will close anyway?
I wonder when life will return to normal! No doubt in a couple of years a film will be released. It will be the Americans that save the day. Specially 2 or 3 lead characters (good looking) that manage to fix everything!

I guess one of the best places to be is on the International Space Station at the moment!

That's a good tracker.Unfortunately the UK will probably drop off now surely, due to the fact that only cases in hospital will be tested for the virus?

I'm on day 2 of self isolation having started a fever on Thursday afternoon. Temperature going up and down, slightly dodgy belly, a bit dizzy and disoriented, lungs feel hot and dry... Weird sensation.... But so far very little in the way of coughing.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Keep us updated on your condition please.

I feel we are a little bit in limbo at the moment. With the government not testing the general public now, with only hospitalised patients tested I think we might have a period of time just waiting.
It was only a few weeks ago everyone was worried that China were not doing their part, and not keeping the world informed with regards to how many had the virus there.
Let's hope we at least have regular updates so we are not left in the dark

Cases per 100,000 Iceland is top with the UK towards the bottom
Iceland were planning on testing the entire population whereas the UK is now testing only those with serious symptoms from what I understand

I think that more counts for when we are getting towards the peak and the numbers of people self isolating is too high to really deal with in that way (realistic of course)
What the CMO said is now they will test anyone who presents symptoms, regardless of whether they have been abroad. An acknowledgement that we have sustained community spread now.
I understand this to mean they will only test people with the severe symptoms that are in hospital now and not the people that self isolate for 7 days. If this is the case then the UK figures will not be true

It's good that they are trying to protect the elderly but I'm not sure how effective the latest measures will be. I get the impression that many will carry on as normal going out shopping and to their activities. My elderly mother,89 years old is still quite active but has COPD and asthma. She seems to think it's 'just one of those things' that won't happen to her. No doubt she's not the only one!

Iceland are going to screen the whole population for Covid19 .Population of approx 364,000 there. Will be interesting to know the results.

So are we meant to assume the viral strain in Italy is the more serious one? And in Germany for example (because there are fewer deaths so far) it is the milder strain?. If so surely the test results would confirm it ?

Quick question, obviously as someone who is working with the public etc I am having to wash my hands much more often . Dealing with money , changing hand with money etc . I have been washing my hands often but not excessively and I’ve already started to get a rash , does anyone know what it could be and why ? I’m using anti bacterial soap and normal soap/foam too .
With regards to sore hands from frequent washing I find Neutrogena concentrated hand cream(Norwegian formula) very good. Also rub vaseline all over your hands at bedtime. Probably hand moisturiser will be the next item running out in the shops!

Same here.Had the fan going all night but the upstairs temp was already at 28C at 7.30am. Heres hoping for a storm later to cool things down, although the last lot were too far West for us which might happen again
