Oh boy ... what fab pics we've had from you guys this year and these have topped the lot. Never again will I say the skies here have gone dark!
Fantastic.

For me, it's a strange mix of excitement, anxiety, more excitement, nerves, even more excitement, and then sheer blind panic hoping I've not forgotten to do/buy/pack anything too important!

Don't worry about if you've forgotten anything, Walmart sells everything! Have a great time/experience, how jealous am I????

We had a nest in our eaves last year. Hubby used the foaming wasp nest killer and some powder stuff too. He's also filled the whole they went in through. Did the job. Can't stand wasps although I have to appreciate how clever they are. Have seen three queens so far this year. Yuk. Better not nest near my house/garden. Love Bees and hoverflies though.

Happy Chasing Guys and stay safe. Will be watching closely as last year.
Hey Paul..... hope you got that little 'citation' from last year sorted!!!
Good luck and stay safe.

It looks rather like one we had as kids, Pepe was his name. Don't you think so Karen ann?
That's why I got you to take a look. Thought he looked like Pepe too. Mind you can't be him, he's been dead over 28 yrs! Or could it????

Definately a canary! IMO. Just asking my sis to have a look too. The size in comparison to the tit next to it is also a good indication.

As expected, no snow here, only rain. Have been reading though last nights threads (couldn't get on last night) and have come to the conclusion that you chaps (& chapesses) are all gonna be too tired to go out to play in it today. Enjoy it everyone! I am jealous but graciously at that!

What about here in Carnoustie,
I'll be heading up your way on 16th Feb for a week, so if you do get some snow, don't let it thaw! Off to Arbroath to visit the m-in-law.

The scariest ever for me was in Jan '88. I was at work and the winds were howling and debris was being thrown everywhere. We watched the whole roof of the Eddie Stobbart warehouse lift off and fly towards a local housing estate! A collegue and I were sat at our desks and the internal wall behind us was of brick and behind that was a store cupboard. Suddenly, there was an almightly crash, we both leapfrogged our desks with lightning speed and stood looking at the wall with a great deal of confusion. It seemed fine. However, when we plucked up the courage to look in the store cupboard, it was no longer there! The roof and a very large part of the wall had gone. We were sent home about 1/2 an hour later and my boss kindly told me to get in my car and drive out of the car park very quickly as the brick facing which held the company sign was swaying somewhat and my car was parked beneath it! Part of it did fall down about 20 mins later apparently. Scary day that one, and although I love extreme weather, (thunderstorms in particular), that experience is not one I would care to repeat.

Been reading through this topic with great interest. It kind of explains how at I nearly crashed my car that afternoon. Sorry I can't report any interesting cloud formations from here in Poole but as I was on the way to my parents (around 2.40pm ish), I saw a huge flash of sheet lightning, which I have to say, covered an enormous area of a seemingly cloudless sky! I asked my dear hubby if he'd seen it or was I finally loosing the plot, alas he hadn't, he was too busy playing with the daughters Nintendo DS! I think you guys on here have answered my questions yet again.

Just had a good 30 min T/storm here. Overhead at about 2.15am, disrupted power for a few mins. Lightning pretty much every second, some CG with some Anvil Crawlers thrown in to keep me happy. Came in from the SW and headed off now WNW. Cracking thunder and very heavy rain too. Seems to have stopped in this last 5 mins.

This evening has seen the 3rd batch this summer!
Strangely they were tiny flyers, perhaps 1/3 of what might be considered 'normal' size, but there were 1000s of them at around 18.30 .
Snap Andy. We've had our third batch today too.

i was only one at the time,, so dont remember, the biggest storm i remember was the storm of june 1998.
i was stuck up culver cliff and it went on for hours, with lots of flooding
I remember that one Kelly. I went walkabouts in it and got drenched through to my undies! I was supposed to be playing Netball that evening and the matches were called off .... something to do with lightning not being a good mix with the metal poles on the end of each court. I'd love to see one like that again.
Can't remember much about the storms in 1981 only the golf ball sized hail we had with a minor thunderstorm. Everyones conservatories got trashed.
The other good one I remember was in the early 90's, it was a purely electrical storm that went on for 5 hours. It was amazing.

One small storm at 3am this morning, not overhead but lots of lightning with a small amount of distant thunder.
Just had a steady thunderstorm from about 12.15 pm - 1.45pm, no fork lightning but lots of steady flashes and always followed by a rumble of thunder. All cleared now.
-
Short 'storm' this morning, 4 flashes, 2 definately CC lightning and 4 rumbles. Moved off in a Northerly direction now.
-
Maybe Severe Storms are unlikely but there are three Severe Thunderstorm warnings, two in Wisconsin and one in Illinois. :

How large is a nickel-sized hailstone?
A nickel is about the same size as our penny.

This is the wierd thing, have never had a Citation before, usually they hear your British Accent and ask if you are from Australia or Ireland and tell you off and tell you to obey the rules of the Road of the good ol US Of A. This time it took the Sheriff about 4 miles to catch up with me and when i pulled up at some lights in the Middle of Marble Falls all i saw in my rear view mirror was the lights flashing, TBH Whilst getting held up for about 20 minutes the guy was apologising for holding us up from the storms to our South, all he said was to phone the number on the ticket and speak to the Judge within 10 working days or 24th May, and see if they let me off, if i have to come back i have to come back i guess

I've had a great time following you guys from my little desk (much safer, although boring) have a chilled few days before heading home. Just make sure you sort the citation side of things out though cause if you don't, they may not let you back in next year. No joke, I know someone it happened to, the kids Disney holiday went down the pan!!!

Been lightly snowing here since 3.45am. Just stopped now. About 2-3cm on bins, tables, decking etc but less on the grass. None on the paths and roads.
-
Has been snowing here for the last 1/2 hour. Have a dusting. Seems to be easing off now though.
-
Experiencing a snow shower at the moment. Fairly heavy but clear skies behind so don't think much will come of it.
-
Snowing here in Broadstone. Has been for 2 hours. Not settling. Amazed to see it snow here, nonetheless.
