  1. At last thunder and lightning here! Only a 15- minute downpour but it came with a flash and a few rumbles. A post 2006 storm but a storm nonetheless
  2. Still nothing here, just more muggy cloudy weather. Last two days have only just topped 20C but felt really sultry- if the sun could stay out it feels like a 25 is possible. Just need that cloud to shove off, unless it's going to give storms.
  3. When the sun is out it actually feels warm. Only thing is it can't stay out for more than 5 minutes at a time.Just can't stop this stupid stratoaltocumulo rubbish from forming and floating around, it can never give storms and is just a pain. What will keep it away...
  4. That's the thing- normally I am . But after 7 years of every storm missing here I think it's gone into boy who cried wolf mode
  5. Not loud enough to wake me up it wasn't :-) About 3 vague rumbles according to those who heard it.
  6. Nothing. Zilch. Jack. Cloud and drizzle while one lot went over N Wales and another up Telford/Stoke into the Peak. Getting really sick of this stupid town missing EVERYTHING except aforementioned cloud and drizzle now.
  7. Nothing here, just the same mild cloudy muggy crud keeping temps up overnight
  8. Maybe down there but up here it keeps clouding over at midday- you can set watches by it- and throwing in a couple of pesky non-thundery showers ok in the afternooms. That's been the default setting for the past week or so. Who needs hurricanes when you can have 3 months of constant bombardment by Atlantic lows bringing gales and flooding? At least a hurricane is over in a couple of days...
  9. Just like that time it snowed in bloody Rome and rained here. We have the most pathetic, lame excuse of a climate on earth save for Chongqing in China and it's environs.
  10. 35C in Germany seriously? Why the hell can't it ever get here!
  11. It's just gone through, 10 minutes of torrential rain and nothing else.
  12. Just been belting down, having been clear enough for stargazing half an hour before. But no thunder of course...
  13. Well it started to brighten up now gone dull again. Wont set off anything at this rate....
  14. Look closely and you can see a Shrewsbury hole on that lightning map..
  15. Someone in the convective discussion is saying so, and to cap it all my other half just told me she heard some! I can't believe this, I NEVER sleep through thunder, it must have been the quietest thunder ever!
  16. Where in Shrewsbury? I never heard anything, and I never sleep through storms! I know what you mean about them never hanging around any more, I remembe ones that lasted 6 hours or more in the good old 90s..
  17. Worcs, Glos, Cheshire, Derbyshire but not a single thunder report in Shropshire anywhere....
  18. Cloud well broken here, seems to be getting clearer as the day goes on. The nicest day since the weekend of 21-22 May.
  19. If there did occur a day of lying snow in summer, which winter season would it be credited to? June I expect the previous one, and.August the following, but July??
  20. Or north (more polar air, aurorae, near 24 hour daylight in summer). Not sure about west though, it's not far enough to get cold off Canada or hurricanes...
  21. Been pouring for over 2an hours after drizzle all morning. Was 14C but down to 10 now. Grim.
  22. Just had another shower, exactly the same time as yesterday's kicked off. The annoying thing is that when the sun came out earlier it was actually very nice, but all too briefly. Cloudy, humid muggy dross with no thunder is as tedious as cloudy cold North Sea clag. Especially since I know there's hot weather waiting to come out and maybe spark off some storms, if only the damn cloud would get lost......
  23. Presumably to do with the eccentricity of the Earth's orbit? The winter solstice is very near perihelion and the Earth is orbiting faster, which is why winter in the N hemisphere is slightly shorter than summer (solstice to equinox). The equation of time actually reaches zero near both solstices, so seems not to explain this anomaly.
