Surprisingly pleasant this afternoon and the temperature not bad either, surpassing 16 degrees!

Floatylight Your interpretation. It shows a 11°C max for your location.

Floatylight Where lol? Certainly not Essex…

raz.org.rain That’s a deal I can’t turn down!

cheeky_monkey August 1995 is a month I’d love to witness. I was very young at the time so can’t remember it. You’d think it’d be achievable again given all the talk of us morphing into a Mediterranean climate…

It’s got a very April 2021 / 2010 feel today. Alright in the sun but the moment you’re not…

LetItSnow! I know what you’re saying, there were indeed hints of spring like daffodils coming out, and birdsong on a few days etc but all things considered, it just wasn’t spring like overall… not this side of the country anyway. Maybe different in London, which wouldn’t surprise me.
For me it’s considering things like light levels which were equivalent to October, rainfall and frequency of Tm airmasses which were more typical of October, and the temperature profile which was often typical of October.
A zonal spell in March, while I’d expect to be quite stormy, I’d also expect to be a lot brighter and not so balmy. Indeed, some of the weather this March felt more akin to October/November.

Close to a date record minimum here last night.

To be fair, you can flip the word form spring like to autumn like however you wish. We can all agree one thing it wasn’t though: winter like!
Two very different feeling seasons but yes indeed, not winter like at all!

B87 Indeed… very few days were springlike in Feb at all. There were a few moments like the morning of the 15th and the following Tuesday was very pleasant but the rest of month was more like November!

Don Funnily enough this month’s synoptics wouldn't be at all out of place in February.

cheese That’s it. Although when I lived there it was pretty unsettled in Jan, bits of Feb, Mar, bits of April and even quite a bit of May! One day in May only got to 10°C with thundery showers of hail!

danm Even the Spanish resorts joining in too. Mid teens in the Balearics and high teens on the Costa del Sol. Not cold by any means but going the opposite way to the norm.
AWD Same happened for me when I went to London for the day a few weeks ago. The sun went in around Didcot and I hardly saw it again until the train back home at sunset haha. Happens more than ya think.

I can only imagine how nice 1989 must’ve felt after the previous few years!

Andy Bown Yes that’s an interesting one. Me neither. NW-SE yes but not quite like that.

In Absence of True Seasons Had that here too at breakfast time. Temp dropped from 10°C to 6°C

On the plus side… the sun is now out and all the wishy washy high cloud has gone. Just need that high to build in now trapping the clean air in!
-
In Absence of True Seasons Yes it was a good spell, and ended with (ironically) the best storm of the year here. For sunshine however 2019 was better.
Back to today and the winter coat is back out!

2018 did have the record-hot April day
There was no record set in April 2018. Just as well really as the month was undeserving of one anyway.

More sunny than bright today which is nice, but a definite chill in the air.
-
Random band of high cloud yet again ensuring that it’s bright rather than sunny… but it is bright nonetheless but feeling rather autumnal compared to the previous two days.

Yes… on a day where the sky should be blue we are once again plagued with this ever pervading white layer that has ruined so many brighter days.
SunSean Good choice. I’ll be going in early May!
