    Had a look around Sandal castle yesterday, the original building was constructed on the instruction of Willam de Warrenne between 1106-1121 and events at the castle form the backdrop for part of Shakespeare's Henry VI - the Grand Old Duke Of York nursery rhyme is said to be inspired by the battle of Wakefield (Wikipedia). Also a view out over a busy Pugney's country park and the city of Wakefield.

    Now my knowledge of motorbikes is next to nothing but here are some pictures from last years Harley convention near Benalmedina in Spain.

    Had a tremendous thunderstorm at about 2.30pm - had to drive from Langsett South Yorkshire to Castleford in West Yorkshire and it was almost monsoon like all the way - brilliant lightning display as well.

    Went up Helm Crag on Saturday morning before the deluge that came in, saw the Howitzer & Lion and the Lamb, also good views of Easdale Tarn and sour milk gill.

    Just got back from a couple of days spent in and around the village of Dufton near Appleby, went up Cross fell (893m highest point in England outside of the Lake District) on Saturday but only got pictures at the start and end of the walk as above about 450-500m it was blowing a gale and raining most of the time. The church is at Kirkland and the monument is on the village green at Dufton (and there were still patches of snow on north facing slopes of Cross fell).

    Thanks for all the comments, Don't get me wrong I'm not a winter grouch and i do still get excited at a few flakes of snow but I'm really looking forward to some more pleasant weather now - I suppose that those of us who live at such elevations should be grateful to still see the white stuff as some places hardly see any these days.

    Oh no! it's the 17th of April and yet more snow this morning - look i do like snow, JUST NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF BLOODY APRIL!! Please would someone just bring the warmer weather on already!?!? (took these at about 6am this morning)

    The twisted metal in the cairns are some of the old fence posts Rusty, and it was extremely cold due to the wind but worth it in the end. Doc.

    Got some great views from the top of Harter Fell (778m) today, wind gusting at 50mph and being peppered with hail on and off -2 at the top and no idea what wind chill but real brass monkeys stuff!

    Whilst in the Lakes we stayed in Eskdale for a couple of days during which we walked up to the roman ruins near the Hardknott pass then went up Harter fell, unfortunately conditions took a turn for the worse while climbing Harter fell and the heavy rain soaked my camera so the amount of pictures is limited!

    Thanks Paul, the view was stunning with the contrast from above the snowline - we always go prepared for anything(almost!) the weather may throw at us, here's another couple of pics including our youngests 'snowangel' in progress!

    Went up to the Lakes for a few days, On Thursday me the wife and my youngest daughter got to the summit of Skiddaw, we had light rain to start off with below 4-500m then light snow on and off for the rest of the walk - the temp at the top was -2 with wind chill of -10 wind gusts of 35-45mph. The snow was up to 18" deep near the top 3000ft+

    Love the cloud formations and showers. the Dales are a lovely place but for me in England the 'touristy' Lakes are my favourite with the more dramatic mountain scenery, also North Wales is another place I love. (I used to live in Burley in Wharfedale)
