Well it's not even managed to get to 1C here and I'm not too far away from you in chelt (20 miles?)
-
Looks like i'm in for a whale of time. Already have a fair ground cover....
-
Light flurries for me.. NOt amouinting to anything but as the ground is rock solid you can see it.. Temp CUrrently -1C from overnight low -10.6C
-
Another frost for me. Low of -0.7C and a high today of 5.2C currently 3.4C and DP is -2C ... So looking like another frost for me tonight... B)
-
Cold and misty here. Over night low of -1C and now 2.9C so much for this rise in temps forecast .. Seems to be much slower....
-
Overnight low of -1C a high today at about 2pm of 3.1C and no 1.9C... Currently in DArtmouth Park in North london not the cotswolds. Much colder than progged.

One swallow doesn't make a summer...
But a frog can make a long spring .....

Anybody else think the temps on the weather forcecast havge been quite over cooked. Only 2.C here today as opposed to a predicted 6C.
-
Overnight low of -5.8C and currently -1.5.C...
-
Coldest i remember is -25.C 1982/3 we were living just outside Moreton in Marsh and my mother (she's finnish) remarked it was a bit nippy!
The lowest we'll have this winter will be.... -14C

I didn't report on the event of snow on the 18/19th as i didn't have time but we had a covering here of about 5cm. Like others though it was gone within the blink of an eye. Still nice to see. Not the earliest I've ever experienced but nice non-the-less.
Looking forward to a good bug killing frost on friday night.

Morning all. Misty here up in the hills but sun making an effort to poke through, lifted from the valleys though. Overnight low of -4.2C and currently exactly 2.C. Should be even chillier tonight hopefully.
-
This is still my favourite winter of recall.. I was living in Moreton in Marsh at the time and remember my mother asking me to check the temperature and it was -25C and my mother going "oh i thought it was a bit nippy" (she comes from Finland) and we had an incredible amount of snow (knee height).
Wasn't this period also when London recorded it's coldest ever temperature of -16.C ? I remember seeing a newscast on TV of the hazards of icicles falling on to pedestrians in the city...
Oh for that to happen again.. The weather not the icicles falling on pedestrians..

Apparently we are to expect a large number of waxwings this year including the more colourful bohemia waxwing as the rowan berry harvest in finland where they usually winter has been very poor (many trees don't have fruit) . Birders over there have already noted that many waxwings have already left for further afield than usual.

Drew or anyone on high gound in the cotswolds - whats going on at the moment- much new snow? - I'm away from home due to return at 5 to birdlip, but in London now where it is dull
It's been snowing moderately heavily all day temp is 1C. Topping off an already decent show from yesterday. I'd guess I've about 20cm with some drifts - getting alot windier too but i think its too wet to drift much. Minor roads around me are quite difficult to pass. Even the |Foss has had problems - car overturned in Moreton in Marsh, although thats a favoured cold and snow spot not sure about the roads down your way. Not sure how much new snow but yesterdays foot prints have disappeared.

Afternoon All-
More excitement today I see-
Not quite the snow distribution as yesterday- but again certain regions are going to get another plastering today-
Its all VERY marginal this afternoon- much more than yesterday & elevation, snowcover & evaporational cooling is going to be the key-
Lowlands are expected to rain & sleet- however snow cant be ruled out in the heavier bursts- this does though work backwards in as much as higher routes can still see rain-
Its a real LOTTERY out there-
but I guess central - North wales will be hit- some higher parts of the cotswolds & certainly the Peninnes-
Best of luck peoples- hope you get some more of the white stuff....
Ian B- good to see mate-

Steve you asked yesterday my location. Type cutsdean hill as a place into street map and this is my whereabouts ...

It's been snowing all day (well since 8.30) here in Chelt but nothing settling. So don't worry, not missing anything!
Well it's ceratinly settling herre and I'm only about 20 miles away. granted i have teh elevation though.. Hurrah !

moderately heavy snow all morning... Replacing what had melted away yesterday . I'd say it's about 15 -20cm level after a max of 22cm yesterday. Drifts in the paddock may be 40cm.
Currently 0.6C with a DP of -0.7C
-
Steve, you asked my exact location. If you type Cutsdean hill into street map I'm in that area.
Put the ruler onto faily solid ground too (the chicken's yard).
-
It's still chucking it down here I've just been out and measured and it's 22cm (wish I had a digi camera), only a few drifts in the middle of trackway up to the road - I guess those are about 50cm just a thick heavy, wet blanket of snow. Currently -0.2C.
Tonights frost should prove interesting -3C predicted. If it clears even a little I reckon it'll be harder
-
A negative dew point means snow is more likely, even at marginal temperatures. It's very likely you'll see snow.
Thanks - I'd always wondered.
-
My temps now down to -1.3C and dewpoint -10.7C - not that I know the relevance of dewpoint.
-
Can someone help?
I've never really under stood dewpoints..... Mine is currently -9.7C with actually temp of 0.3C..
Yours with anticipation of lots snow as sems i'm in the prime spot.
-
My temp has started to drop I have had a high today of 2.9C and it is now 2C I was -6C by midnight last night (low of - 8C ) I wonder if i could get down into double digits before the cloud and hoped for snow arrives ?
overnight low -2.6 deg , lowest of the winter so far, and very cold for inner london.I spoke to my brother about half an hour ago and he was down to -5.6C over near hampstead which his also very cold for i suppose middle to inner london
