To wish for protracted heat in the summer,in the U.K. in these ‘climate change’ times,is to root for the bad guy.I for one wallow in average and normal weather.

As long as there are a few hot members I tend not to 'worry' as much. 14 days ago the models didn't look great and 10 days ago some runs were already bringing in a breakdown. In reality we've ended up with some very reasonable weather with a good week to come
I suppose it's eyes on late next week as to what the Azores nose does
Depends where you stay I suppose.

Probably not the most densely populated area of the UK (the south-east) but I see plenty of potential for widespread snow showers in NE England, Lincolnshire and East Anglia on Monday 5th and then over much of Wales and the West Country, possibly extending into parts of central southern England, on the 6th. The GFS 18Z also has more in the way of showers breaking out inland on the 6th than earlier runs.
With it being early April I don't expect lasting snow cover at low levels but parts of NE England and Lincolnshire, maybe Norfolk, could have a covering early on the 5th, and parts of Wales and the south-west on the 6th, with snow showers moving through around dawn.
And adding to that, many parts of Highland and Northern Scotland including the Outer Hebrides,Orkney and Shetland.Oh and there will be lying snow in many of aforementioned too.

I for one am very pleased to see this as its very seasonal for up here in spring and seems to support my theory that lack of pollution has allowed us to return to more defined seasons in the last 12 months. If true to form heat will arrive about the 20th of April along with the swallows and swifts.
I remember going through to Aberdeen in mid April in the early sixties on the bus along with my mother and sister to see Sound of Music at cinema in Holburn Street. We came out of cinema at about 4.00pm to a heavy powdery snow shower. On the way back we sat in back of bus and I was able to observe some great towering cloudscapes highlighted in pink as sun began to set. They could be seen all the way home to the east coming on to the Buchan coast,I think they were traditionaly known as Buchan Boaters or spring snow showers on a north wind. I only went because I knew I would see falling snow!!!!! 21c arrived the follwing week.
If my thoughts are right a traditional summer beckons with three fine days and a thunderstorm so something for everyone
A ten day chart is a ten day chart for awe that in that.

Waited all day for the forecasted snow from the weak front here at Isle of Lewis. The wait was fruitless. No precipitation at all.Ah,to be employed in the forecasting arena;job for life and if you get it wrong,no problems...you still keep your job! The water courses flowing off the moors are solid though.

People always says how hard it is to shift a cold block, but in reality it never seems to be a problem. 7-10 days is generally all we can manage before the mild / Atlantic finds a way in. Yes there are exceptions to this, but they are rare.
This I agree with.

Come to think of it It's been an odd winter. We've had hardly any heavy frosts! Am struggling to recall more than 2...
Depends where one calls home my friend. Here on the Isle of Lewis, the ground is frozen, the small lochs are mostly all frozen, the rivers and streams are decorated with ice.The Clisham (Highest point of land on island at 699m) has had snow on it since before Christmas and this is an island bathed in the Gulf Stream. It certainly has been an odd winter!

It's really hit me today how many on here are actually seeking a prolonged cold, snowy run of weather.
As opposed to at least a single day of snow on the ground without much thaw, which is all I've been after. Goes to show what the balmy far south and southwest has to contend with!
To live through an epic Winter is what many here are hoping for, including me.

Reached a high of +6c today and that’s the highest it’s been for over 9 days.(Where? Port of Ness,Isle of Lewis.) Yes the north northeasterly drift of last 9 days has become progressively less cold.

Of course ‘what we wish for has absolutely sod all impact on what the weather actually does’ but I reiterate,it’s madness to pray for el scorchio summers, especially in England…just be careful what you wish for is all I’m saying.
