Hey I was thinking with December having a CET below 5c what would happen in a July above 5c?? 28c every day in London with nightime lows of 19c? Also What's the highest above avg CET month in the summer ever?

Even here in February in the southeast mostly late on, snow seems to melt very quickly, one such occasion was feb 2005 where a good amount fell at times particularly overnight only to be melted by 10am the next day.

I believe it's forecast to start dropping but it's unlikely to get to a neutral state until the autumn more like a weak one during the summer. So chances are in my book that august may be nice but I'm worried about the first part of summer.

We got to 14c this month and 15c was exceeded in Essex in November a few times at beginning of month.

If the jet stays over Scotland then the southeast is spared! If the jet stays to the north then most of uk is spared bar the far northwest. If the jet moves to north England then is the southeast spared? Similar to early July last year? If the jet moves to south England we are all doomed! What happens if the jet moves over the med or France? Any ideas on this pattern and whether it's happened before in summer?

Very similar to 1995 summer then isolated frost? I agree with you on august I think it'll be warm or very warm with hot spells. I think we'll have less extremes though so no months with 200% rainfall or 5mm of rain! June generally always starts with warm sunny weather and then it goes either way. Any reason why youve predicted what you have isolated frost?

I'd already take a punt at June and august being ok or good and July being poor, I'll explain why later and of course this could change!

You keep saying this Croatian! No offence but I just think it's an excuse to big up Croatia lol. No one really knows it's all stupid really! Anything is up for grabs. La Nina patterns are similar to 1976 and we had hottest summer ever then!

It's called climatising! I went to the lake district last summer when I left it was 29c in Essex, when I got to the lakes it was 19c and it felt cold! Had a coat and jumper on for first two days lol!

My grandad recorded a min of 22.4c in Chelmsford once before (think it was 1995?) and last year a min of 19.6 was recorded by me on the night of 9th July again in Chelmsford Essex, had loads of nights around 16-18c mins last year.

I think it's about time we had a really good August (2009 was good) but could of been even better! 2006, 07, 08 and 2010 augusts were all poor. A hot plume can give some extremely high temps in august too!

You are so cheerful Croatian! I still think summer will be similar to last year with a NW/SE split across the UK but i think it's likely to be better in august this year. I also think La Nina will die out and become neutral by mid summer which is why August sld be better.

2010 will be remembered as the summer that could of been, had august been hot and sunny there would have been major water shortages in the southeast. It could of been a contender for a top summer.

Milhouse I wouldn't say there was a lack of high pressure across southeastern areas in July 10. The high temps were helped by clear skies on some days. Worth noting that where I live in Essex (Chelmsford) had an avg approaching 26c for July from my own records.

3rd warmest now TWS, I'm sure I read on the met website that July 2010 was 2nd warmest in 100 years in eastern England?

Just saw some figures and July 94 looks nice but I don't recall it being mentioned, think I vaguely remember it being hot as i was v young. Alot of 30c in there and most days over 25c.

Not sure summer blizzard, 07 and 08 both had early warm spells, April 07 and may 08 were very good months but the summers were poor. In 2007 may was poor and we still had poor weather all summer? I'd like to know what happened in the lead Upto 1976 summer.

I do love living in Essex for the reason that yes we arent far from the east or south coast but we aren't prone to low cloud in summer, in spring or autumn we can sometimes get it but it burns off generally by 10/11am, April 07 is a good example- it often got warm and sunny by 11am and temps although started at around 15-16c they quickly Rose to above 20c on the warmer days.
