  1. All this snow down south has got to the metoffice's heads! They need to be looking further north thurs/friday and saturday and even sunday! Yorkshire/Lincs/East Mids could get as much as 25-30cm...
  2. Hey everyone, areas currently seeing snow around nottingham north and east, will see nothing but precip turning to rain shortly... This week looks promising for eastern coastal counties with a NNE wind blowing, with some heavy snow showers, also a transitional event on saturday for us too So we will get it!
  3. Raining here, not even sleet, other weather stations around the area showing the same, i wouldnt be so certain yet mate, the warm sector peaks/transforms between 8-11pm.
  4. Looks like the warm sector hit and killed everything off quicker than expected, raining here now in hull. o well temp still 0.9
  5. I dont know if im allowed to say this but... I think the METO have cocked this up big style! I just cannot see 15cm especially 30cm coming from anywhere!!
  6. I made a map to show the areas with the risk of precip turning to rain/sleet at around 9-10pm, any areas west of it will be fine.. But... going by the current radar looks as if everything is held back in france, with the main energy wrapped with it. Now if this is the case and theres a delay to the precip pushing up, the warm sector buggers off into the north sea around 1-2am.. with -7 to -8 850's coming accross. Something worth keeping an eye on...
  7. Intensification wont start til about 7-8pm you will see small signs before then though. I think i have noticed something on the models which could suggest heavy snow for yorkshire/lincs... and not turning to rain at all (or if it does for just a short time)
  8. Had big puddles even on path and roads, all turned to slush and filled puddles in, still snowing pretty moderate. but its showing signs of sticking just need it to really come down in the next hour now. Temp dropping to 0.9c if it hits 0.5 to 0c which imho will be a god send, game on!
  9. ok ill let you off then although you did say areas 10 miles inland earlier
  10. May i say just one thing.. look back through my previous posts, did i say directly to you "you will get rain" I think not, i stated it will become vary marginal for many places, with the obvious locations turning readily to rain. Also with parts of your area becoming marginal. This does not mean where your located will be rain..
  11. What reef means is that although models can be incorrect, when your in a more reliable time frame and the models have been continuing to show the same output for this time frame, and then on top of it when the ECM falls in line with the GFS. It's very rare the models will be wrong. Some locations will be marginal, some fine, some unlucky.. this is how its going to pan out, yorkshire and lincolnshire will have rain within the new few hours, with nottinghamshire falling into line too with rain. Best places is sheffield (higher up) Derbyshire, North york moors, and of course the penines. (After 8-9PM)
  12. All the other guys should ask marksp if you can camp your house on his patch. IMHO marksp is in one the best areas tonight for some serious accumulations! his elevation helps him a lot.
  13. I must be talking to a brick wall. Dont take notice of the models? was we not doing that last night for today? end of the day i dont want to dampen your hopes and excitement but you have to take the obvious. The warm sector will occur, even the ECM is backing the gfs on this one, and the past 4-5days the ecm has had a different output..
  14. There only improving because the warm sector has not hit you yet!! The 12z says it all! take a look... Even peeps earlier stating mins of -2 i doubt it... maybe after the band moves through and it starts to clear up... Temps Dews Precip 850'S! Conclusion East yorkshire, Lincs, and further inland accept places with i would say 150m elevation will see it turning readily to rain! from around 8-9pm Not good
  15. yes it will turn to rain.. weird 2c and dew of just over 1c here in hull, and its snowing hard !!!
  16. its snow here, but too wet to settle, dews at 0c with temp of 1.7 needs to hit 0 at least (surface temps) for any accumulations to become possible! but still theres hope
  17. thanks for the info mate.. very helpfull i totally understand your point. A little worrying for when the warm sector does hit then lol
  18. My temp is now 1.7c with a dew of 0C ... it's the change in upper 850s! thats the problem... heavier precip coming over me soon. Ill keep you posted when heavier precip moves accross. Could be the niggling warm sector introducting the warmer 850s making the lighter precipitation more of a wintery mix.. now 1.4c wow what a drop!
  19. Will change shortly, now raining here in hull! lol what did i say! G....AME OVER
  20. ok grass and roofs full of snow, pavements and roads melting/wet.... no chance of it setteling here in hull now is it?? even if it comes down heavy
  21. I really dont understand!!! do these weather forecasters have a clue!! Essential journeys warning as weather worsens WEATHER experts are urging people in Hull and the East Riding not to make any unnecessary journeys tonight. More than 5cm of snow is expected around Hull and Beverley, with 10cm on higher ground. Graham Butler, Met Office adviser for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: "We are in for some pretty nasty stuff during the late afternoon and into the night. "I wouldn't make any journey unless it was absolutely necessary. "But if you have to go out then make sure you take it slowly and take care." Link - HDM News
  22. my temp is reading 3.4c with a dew of -0.5 (East hull) could this be right :S
