  5. I think people are suffering from a very myopic viewpoint. The earth is not seeing anything unusual happening, yes the economic problems we have, the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, the odd war are all very bad and disastrous for those involved but relative to the world and history they are things that wont even feature in the annals of history. They are insignificant. This doesn't come from fear, it comes from disappointment that people are so dammed paranoid and so sure the end is neigh.
  6. Some odd and rather amusing has happened to the wind speed forcast. They are showing 900+ mph on the weather forcast feed. Should I start to panic even though it does look rather calm outside? http://lortonweather.co.uk/
  7. Thats even more bonkers than the last so called evidence. What the hell as the design money got to do with it. Its complete and utter nonsense.
  8. My god!!!! :wallbash: :wallbash:
  9. I've been using the weather feed on my website for nearly 5 years and just recently the weather icons now show as broken images. Has that weather feed been retired or is there another problem. The feed I use is http://www.netweather.tv/4web/netweather4web.pl?lat=54.5;lon=-3.25;title=Lorton;template=1%22%20width=%22450%22%20height=%22200%22%20frameborder=%220%22 Thats wrapped in Iframe. My website is lorton weather I could replace it but I like that one as it fits very well with the rest of the site.
  10. That article proves nothing. It reads more like a spoilt child having a tantrum because his or her idea wasn't given the same interest. The LHC is one of the most important experiment of modern time - even if it fails as a failure will allow theory to look elsewhere for the key parts to the theory of everything.
  11. Yet another load of bonkersness. If extra terrestrials exist and they do visit earth would they really waste their time making patterns in fields of corn and wheat. If they have the technology to come here then they really are underselling themselves. Nope this is yet more desperate ravings of people with too much free time on their hands.
  12. No ice sheet? I don't think so - best check your sources before making such grossly incorrect statements.
  13. I think thats the biggest one so far - I wonder if this is a sign of something dramatic to come?
  14. She's woken up again. http://www.sat24.com/en/et?ir=true
  15. Are you sure? Water doesn't expand as such when it freezes, it becomes less dense so floats and displaces the same amount of volume be it frozen or not. During the previous major ice ages land masses were larger because sea levels where lower. During the last ice age the north sea was land and thats where most of our predecessors lived.
  16. I've actually camped on top of that volcano if its the one they think it is. I wouldn’t be surprised if more than one erupted, until you visit the Chilean Andes you don’t realise how many active volcanoes there are and how close to each other they are.
  17. The cam at http://live.mila.is/jokulsarlon/ seems to be showing an increase in flooding. Previously you couldnt see the water moving but now it clearly is flowing fast towards the camera.
  18. Evacuation zone to be extended. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13408055
  19. Zero emissions in the coming decades? I think you need to back that up because as far as I'm aware no one is suggesting that is possible. It's certainly a desire and aim but even the most optimistic don't make such statements.
  20. I felt it too - it was quite a noisey shaking and seemed to go on for a quite a while.
  21. Hasn't the microwave background survey recently been used to suggest that there are traces of events prior to the big bang. I cant find the article but the suggestion has the potential to bring some very big changes to the both the big bang and inflation theories. edit - found an article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11837869
  22. This was yesterday around 3pm coming down from Grisedale Pike. http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=26c77afd-4ce8-40eb-b375-d61bd2e0aea2
